Hi Everyone,

Hope you all are doing great and enjoying the beginning of the summer.
Please subscribe to my blog... these posts are free, and will help you to rank better!

This post is part 1 of a series I am doing on Recovering from Panda Penalties.

If you have been hit by Panda, this WILL help you!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I put the below image together for you.
It is a picture of a PERFECT site...

Google Panda Recovery

Ok, this first part is really simple if you just take it step by step..

  1. Make sure you have a proper title.
  2. Have great On-Topic Content that is easy to follow.
  3. You NEED TONS of WHITE SPACE!!!!! THIS IS KEY HERE!!!!
  4. Have great navigation. (Top and Side Menus)
  5. Optimize the size of your images and try to keep them below the fold.
  6. Sit back and WAIT for Google to Index you.. Don't go out and buy huge amounts of links.

Now, here is a practical example of a site I have done this with, and what the results were..
I know people will say (that is an exact keyword domain, but look around, even exact keyword domains are getting hit by Panda, and are NOWHERE on the radar even for their exact keywords.

Ok, my site is 4 months old, it is in the #2 position in Google among 4.2 BILLION sites for the search "The link doctor" (without the quotes of course).. The site ONLY uses what I believe to be the 2 major issues!

GREAT TITLE
TONS OF WHITE SPACE!

My results were AMAZING, and my example is PROOF that this works!

Take a close look at my "Test" Site, and get a hold of the fact that BUSY SITES LOSE!

Here is a link to my PERFECT site.. www.thelinkdoctor.com

Now take a look at another PERFECT site.. www.google.com

Do you see any similarity? Yea.. WHITESPACE, NOT CLUTTERED, IMAGE BELOW THE FOLD.... NO KEYWORD STUFFING!

TIDBIT for the day:
If you want to do well in Google, you might do well to take a look at how GOOGLE does their site..

Thanks for taking the time to read my blogs.. Have a great day, and looking to see you at the TOP!

Great SEO!

Joe, I was thinking you should do a quick blog on the "fold" so everyone knows what that is.

I'm liking your out of the box thinking. It does make good sense. I think I'll go add some blank space to our website now.

I'm actually in the process of redesigning my site.  But I do think there is some balance between "marketing value" and "SEO" - if I come up quickly in the google search so people land on my page - but the content does not engage them - what is the point?  On the other hand - all the engaging content in the world won't matter if it never gets looked at.

I'm going to disagree with the pictures below the fold - I think that a good picture draws the reader in along with the title & it optimizes the post.

Pretty vague post here as you don't mention or suggest what a picture size should be & then also don't give an example of 'white space'.  You're 2 link examples are 'duh' in my opinion.  I'm not getting the sense of humor or maybe you should know it's not funny?

Vague is not helpful.  The purpose of AR is to teach & give great examples to help the collective here.

Hi Justin, Thanks for stopping by and commenting... Actually Matt Cutts has spoken quite a bit about "White Space" he typically uses the term "blank space" or "empty space" but the term "White Space" has been adopted by many.. including Cutts.. Just a term for areas of a site that are not covered. Have a great weekend..

Hey Donald, it was great talking to you also! I appreciate you taking the time to visit.. I will do just that.. Basically the "fold" refers to the mid way point of the site (top to bottom)... Google Webmaster Tools actually has done tons of posts on this area because it effects load time of the site, and they also try to say it effects "user experience"..
Have a great evening!

Mark, Thanks for visiting and commenting! Yes, it is actually pretty easy. If you find that you have content that you are not willing to part with, just put more spece between the elements.. I typically put my content in module positions and then leave a few modules empty on the page.. Have a great evening...

Hi Jeanne, Thanks for coming by and commenting.. Yes you are correct, there is a compromise between making everything perfect (in google's eyes) and at the same time having something for the visitor.. But the bottom line is that Google does control if you show up or not, and if you don't the point is moot.. BALANCE my friend... It is tough... Have a great evening!

Joe -- I am still not understanding. I don't see how it does any good to be tops in the search engines unless you also have content and material that is attractive for our site visitors. Are you saying that the old rules are still in effect along with the Panda criteria?

John,

Thanks for coming by and commenting.. What I am saying in this post is a general outline of what is currently working in Google..

Here is how Panda works..

The focus is on "user experience" (put in quotes because that is what google is saying).. then they move onto the old rules also.. It is a balancing act because too much on the page may give the visitor what they want, but if google doesn't like it you never get found...

Thanks and have a great day!

I had no idea there was a "fold" on a blog post.  Great information although I have no SEO.....yet.
