You will love The Elephant Bar in Citrus Heights CA!

Normally when I write about a local area restaurant or business, it is one that is a small business rather than a chain, but I have to admit that if I counted the number of times I've been to any restaurant in the last couple of years, the winner by far would be The Elephant Bar in Citrus Heights.

My husband and I simply love the place and we have taken so many out of town visitors there that they ask to go there when they are in town.  It is also a favorite place to have lunch with clients.

The place has a jungle theme without being kitchy, the wait staff is wonderfully efficient and friendly, and their menu is unusual and delicious! 

They have some dishes with an Asian flair, and good old American food, and everything from rice bowls and sandwiches to what they call "global" selections, and super delicious entrees with chicken, beef, shrimp, fish, etc.  Great desserts too!

They have some delicious cocktails too, including skinny cocktails for those who want the drink but not all of the calories.  But don't forget to try the sweet potato fries.  they're really good.

They also have free Senior Cards, which you can present to get discounts on your bill, if you are at least 60 years old.

And one unique program they sponsor is helpful to schools, athletic teams and youth organizations.  It is the Jr. Explorer Award Program.  Elephant Bar will give free award certificates to schools and organizations good for a free Kid's Meal.  The certificates can be used to recognize and reward kids for their performance in all areas of learning and sports.

And if your school is registered in the program, Elephant Bar will donate 20% of total food sales to your school or organization on your designated day.  Now that is the kind of restaurant that I want to support!

Elephant Bar Citrus Heights is at 6063 Sunrise Mall (not inside the mall, but out in the parking lot facing Sunrise Blvd, just south of Greenback Lane). I recommend reservations, although you needn't make them if you are willing to wait a bit for a table.  Reservations will get you in immediately.  Call (916) 961-3628.

They are open from 11 am to 10 pm most days and 11 am to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturday.  I promise you will love this place.
