The Faces of Huntsville, TX: Meet Wilson 6 (Now 7)

Let me introduce you to the Wilson family. They are your average Walker County residents.

Until recently, they had a home in the Elkins Lake subdivision in Huntsville and attended church at First Baptist Dodge.

John was the supporter of the family and Mandi was a stay at home mom who cared for her husband and their 4 children.

In November of 2011 the Wilson’s packed up what little things that they did not sell and moved.  What they were doing was something that blows most people’s mind! They answered their calling to become missionaries in The Philippines.

Little Mandi (hair always perfect, makeup in place) and big ole John, by faith, sold almost everything that they owned, packed up their FOUR children, and left.

Since then, life has been a myriad of emotions. From learning to live in a one room home with now 5 children -- they adopted a little girl from the village -- to dealing with the extreme heat -- to lice and deworming children -- this family can still see God’s work in their own lives as well as the many families that they serve in their village.

More than anything, it will remind you to pray for this family as they struggle to learn what it means to be a missionary and to completely trust God for everything.

 

 

 

The Wilson’s are an amazing family. No different than many of the faces of Walker County. That’s why I wanted to introduce you. I wanted you to meet some of the behind the scenes folks... quietly doing their job. You know... the one’s you hardly ever hear about, but should!
