CROSSING THE 200,000 POINT MILESTONE

I just crossed over the threshold of 200,000 points, another milestone in a series of personal achievements over the past 17 months since I joined Active Rain. Meet Up Roseville 2012

I’ve attended a Rain Camp, three meet ups, posted 78 blogs with 7 features and I've made 4650 comments on other’s blogs. I've received over 1,000 comments on my blogs, called 25 shots and made many friends all over the US and Canada. I’m still quite a “lightweight” by comparison with many of the other members, but coming from not having a clue, I feel I’ve come a long way over the past year and a half.

Changes AheadWith over 30 years as a mortgage loan originator, I’m very good at what I do.   I joined Active Rain because our industry is constantly changing and staying ahead of those changes is critical.  Increasing my internet presence and being able to communicate with industry professionals was my goal, but I was surprised at the quality of the members and information that they were willing to share.

Until I joined, I didn’t know what a blog was or how to create one that would be good enough for anyone to want to read. I quickly learned by reading posts from the best of the best, followed with a visit to AR University where I took some basic classes. After a few phone calls and some encouraging emails from other members, I was well on my way to posting my first blog. Since becoming a rainmaker, I have learned to put together a relatively interesting blog and display myself as a reasonably professional mortgage originator.Night Blog

Active Rain has become a daily routine for me as part of my business day, which often turns into my business night, as I blog and comment late into early morning.  I laugh when I make a comment at 1:00AM and someone answers me right back.  Doesn't anyone ever sleep around here?   

I look forward to my next milestone at AR, as 200,000 points is just another marker along the road.  I've only scratched the surface of what's out there and I know just enough to be dangerous. Over the next year I hope to blog more, make new friends, learn Photoshop so I can create funny things like Craig Rutman does, take more AR University Classes and become a more active member so I can share with others the way they have shared with me.

SuccessWe live in a world where far too many people think that “Everyone Should Get A Trophy”. After a short time in the Real Estate or Mortgage Industry, it soon becomes apparent that this is not the case. Nationally, about 20% of Realtors close around 80% of the business. Joining Active Rain will not automatically make you a success, but it will provide the platform, complete with the necessary tools and support that will allow anyone the opportunity to increase their presence in the industry and become part of the 20%.
