There seems to be a lot of discussion about the economy and the posibilty. It has been a number of years since a recession. Many of the younger generation have never seen what this is like. Tighten of budget is not al together bad  as it teaches the discipline of saving. I looking for ideas that Realtors are using to brace for tightening budgets.

I've heard the term "Stagflation" an awful lot lately.  One thing I'm doing to brace for the storm is sticking to a tight and realistic advertising budget.

Hi Bonner--Great blog site! Personally, I'm trying to find more creative ways of advertising--especially free one such as ActiveRain.com and other internet avenues. Also, lots of phone calling to my sphere.

I think the # 1 thing that Realtors need to be doing right now is prospecting. Regardless of the market, regardless of what mortgage lender decides to go out of business next, regardless of a possible recession...prospecting daily will eliminate any possible problem that a real estate professional can have in his/her business.

Whatever you do to find business...now's the time to be trying to totally BLIST your marketplace with your lead generation efforts.

Regardless of what happens in the economy, thousands of deals will still be getting closed every single month this year. Your job is just to get in the middle of some of those deals.

Some economists believe we are already in a recession.  I have found so many forms of free or practically free marketing, and that is what is keeping me afloat.

  • Blogs are free
  • There are tons of sites to advertise houses free
  • There are many networks just like Active Rain, that are free
  • Calling on referral sources is free

You might have to spend a little money in gas "beating the streets", but ultimately there are a lot of ways to gain new business.  For one thing, if you advertise one of your listings on my site, I'll run ads for that house on 200 websites FREE, and the coolest part, you can advertise the listing on my site FREE.  Can't argue with that price, can you?

Bonner, I recently did a tongue in cheek  blog about this. The way I am doing it is to cut the fat. Anything that does not have a good ROI. is out of the budget. Check out I lost 48 lbs of unwanted fat without diet and exercise and you can to

The "R" word is going to make all of us a lot more bottom-line oriented.  And that's a good thing!
