The resort towns of Lincoln and Woodstock are quietly nestled in a White Mountain National Forest valley, truly surrounded by 800,000 acres of unspoiled wilderness. Not only do these towns boast hundreds of miles of hiking trails – but they also offer a wide range of entertainment. You will find something for the adrenaline junky as well as the cultural arts lover- all in these two small towns (with a lot of heart).

A. the North Country center for the performing art opens its latest summer season in a brand new 2.5 million dollar building. The first play of the Season is the Wedding singer… a musical adaptation of the famous Adam Sandler movie of the same name. With the new 350 seat art center opening, more year round acts and live performances will be just the thing to keep visitors and locals entertained. The Non-profit NCCA has won many state and local awards for their plays and musicals of the past 30 years. Many of the local and second home residents give their time to this wonderful foundation.

B. Is for Bears…Yup, you read that right, Clark’s Trading post offers live Bear performances for your entertainment. Along with the Bears, you can ride a real steam driven train…through Wolf Man’s country, take a Segway tour, visit the crooked house, try the bumper boats, see a fire truck museum, have your old time picture taken, eat at several different venues or find something truly unique at the huge gift shop. The Clark Family has been in business for over 80 years in this location – anyone that is visiting the White Mountains should plan a day at this wonderful attraction.

C.  Is for Caves and for camping…yes the White mountain’s are famous for camping from the classic KOA…camping in the comfort of a decked out house on wheels, to the pitch a tent in the woods offering of the local Ranger station maintained campground throughout the Federal Forest in Lincoln & Woodstock. The Caves can be found at the Lost River Caves, an attraction where you can pan for gold, hike and climb through the caves and narrow walkways in this interesting and naturally formed tourist destination.

D. Is for downhill…skiing that is!! The states’ largest ski resort Loon Mountain is right here in our own back yard. If you are a skier, boarder or would like to try a wild ride in an inter-tube on snow under the lights (night –tubing) this is a winter wonderland for the recreational sports enthusiasts. The serious side of Loon’s downhill terrain is one of the countries premiere destinations for Handicapped adaptive ski centers. The dedicated volunteers and staff offer some of the best trained instructors for people wishing to learn to ski but having some limitation that needs special services. The wounded warrior program also helps veterans get on the slopes with high-tech equipment designed to get our service men and women on the snow.

E. Ecology…do you want to enjoy the beautiful surrounding leaving the smallest carbon footprint behind when your day is done. Try Kayaking in the Pemigewasset River, or Biking through the Franconia Notch state park, or hike through the Flume gorge (or one of the many other beautiful hiking trails in the area).Here is a list of no-motor    Adventures I enjoy in the area throughout the year: Hike – Artist Bluff, Mount Moosilauke, Mount Lafayette, Mount Liberty, or a less strenuous stroll out to Franconia Fall by way of the Lincolnwoods ranger station. There are also Eco-classes offer at the Hubbard Brook Hydroponic research foundation on Mirror Lake in Woodstock NH.

F. Is for Food – You can find American fare, Greek, Japanese, Italian, Steak to sea food you find it all in these two little towns. There are fine dinning options, the world Famous Woodstock Brew Pub, the wildly successful Common Man restaurant, all the larger hotels have their own offerings, and a variety of Mom and Pop shops like Bill & Bob’s Roast Beef offer something for everyone in your group to choose from. You would be surprised to know Lincoln and Woodstock only has a full time population of about 2,000 people but there are more than 50 food establishments to visit.

Lets Round it out with…W,X –Y & Z…From X-country skiing in the winter months to the Whales Tale Water park to the Alpine Adventure Zip line tours there is something for everyone’s recreational spirit in the Lincoln Woodstock Valley. We have one of the largest Water parks in the state and one of the longest Zip lines in New Hampshire as well. If you like Mini golf try the Hobo hills, you can book a winter trip on the Polar Express and visit the North Pole on a unique train ride sponsored by a non-profit literacy foundation.

 Many of the folks that came to the White mountains in the Winter to ski ended up retiring here when work was behind them. These are the core of the volunteers for the Arts, Adaptive sports, or literacy foundations...they Ski, Golf, hike, bike and enjoy all the area has to offer full time now. If you buy a second home in the Lincoln Woodstock area ...we'll have you for life.
