The Elk River Farmers Market will open for the season Thursday, June 28, in a new location in downtown Elk River on Main Street near the Bank of Elk River’s main branch in downtown.
The farmers market will be located in a newly built parking lot next to Elk River Meats. In recent years the farmers market has been held in the parking lot of Westbound Liquor.
Hours will be 2–6 p.m. Thursdays, June 28–Oct. 4. There will not be a market on July 5.
There will be 21 vendors this year, according to RaeAnn Gardner, marketing coordinator for Elk River Parks and Recreation.
Besides a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, vendors will have a variety of products for sale including hanging baskets, honey, soaps, mozzarella cheese, herb plants, edible flowers, popcorn, baked goods, jams and jellies, pickles, lip balm, salt and sugar scrub, seasoning mixes, homemade beauty products, sweater mittens, yarn, rugs, blankets and shower gel.
This is the sixth year of operation for the Elk River Farmers Market, and with all the vendors participating, I think that this year’s market will be the best ever.

Sounds like a great variety of items, Don ... definitely worth making the drive to Elk River for. I think we're seeing a resurgence of American craftmanship and self-reliance in these markets. And I'm all for that ... so tired of franchises and "made in China" ...

We have a market here in St. Michael, too. But, it is not as extensive as yours. If Chief Cook finds out about all the offerins', I will have to lend her the truck.
Don -- In addition to the variety of fresh produce Farmers Markets offer, they provide a great weekly community event too. Many of the Farmers Markets in our area have music and entertainment too.
I am going to have to make a special trip there. I love the yarns they have along with the herbs and fresh veggies. Oh, and the baked goods, and ......
Love a good farmer's market. Nothing like home-made jams and soaps besides everything else they sell.
That's a pretty large farmer's market, and what a variety of stuff. I would love to check it out.
I love farmer's markets. It's a great way to support our local farmers and get the freshest produce. I just can't help snooping around to see what they are growing and making!
In the summer I buy as much as I can from the farmers market, it just doesn't come any fresher than that!
