Does it really make a difference to go with a local SEO company over a national one?
SEO, meaning search engine optimization, is the practice of integrating hundreds of social media and search engine keys into a website making it found by Google and other search engines. But while I feel companies of course are geo-located in a certain area, they typically can optimize for any business or location across the country or the world. So does that make a big difference in choosing an SEO company that's local versus one that's national?
I work with a Maricopa real estate agent in the Arizona area that hires a local website hosting and developing company to monitor and take care of the website in general. But this company doesn't do any SEO. Most of the time, website designers and host won't do the SEO side of the marketing and many SEO companies won't do the design and hosting of the website. While Personal SEO handles more of the SEO side of the website, we also offer limited technical support website hosting, logo and website design, social media integration, and outside SEO tactics.
A local SEO company may know the localized terms, events, festivals, and real estate market and may be able to write more geo-targeted specific, but this is not always the case. It depends on how well your SEO Company researches the area before writing for you. Not all SEO companies write either. Many simply add your link or purchase links from other companies, exchange links, or set up the website and that's it.
Knowing the local market definitely helps when it comes to taking photographs and writing about specifics or interviewing local businesses, but it's not required to accomplish great ranking and online exposure. Should you go with the local SEO company over a national one? I think it all depends on results. If the results of backup the local company or the national one, prices are right, and competition is fair, we feel it's best to go with who you feel most comfortable with.
