Plenty of color on the map

Index map of seismic activity

As a hobby, I look at seismic activity of the Intermountain Corridor (Utah to Yellowstone) specifically in one week lots. In previous examinations we had entered a lull with most weeks surveyed producing less than 20 events.

For the week up to today there is much more activity to look at. My current map shows 47 events mostly in the micro category.

Two events, both in southern Utah made the "big quake" list, the largest yesterday, a 3.1, being the highest recording for quite a while. 3.0 and 3.1 are both in the minor earthquake category. Neither event had any recorded damage.

As usual most of this activity passed unnoticed by the general population.

Though my hobby may appear strange to some, this information, from the US Seismic Service,  is passed on to inform, never to alarm.

Larry, here in Southwest Florida we should pay as much attention to the weather as you do in your area of seismic activity! We are getting an overload of much needed rain! Enjoy your day and keep us posted!

Wayne - There must be something you can do with the excess rain. The outdoors here is so dry that fires are being started by gunfire. ((Saratoga Springs just to our south 9,000 evacuations in the last few days.)

Debbie - always plenty to share with others. This is a big country with lots of different tings to observe. So much to see and do.
