On our previous blogs, we talked about the benefits of having a mentor. California Coast & Country Homes, Inc. offers a 90-Day Mentor Program.
About the Program:
- This program is designed for the part-time apprentice (1 assignment per week for 13 weeks)
- If apprentice is full-time, all assignments can be completed in only 3 weeks
- May include compensation splits to Mentor for assisting Apprentice for first few transactions
- If so, sign a formal written agreement with your broker’s approval
In our program, you (the apprentice) will “shadow” your mentor. The mentor trains you. You’re going to assist your mentor doing tasks and projects. And you’re not going to receive any pay for any tasks or projects that you do with your mentor but you will receive OJT (On the Job Training). I would suggest signing a formal written contract if it’s a long-term basis. You will not be paid and also you will not be expected to be an employee or to act like an employee.
90-Day Program:
- Set up the above schedule with your mentor.
- Share with your mentor what you would like to accomplish during your mentorship – that will help expectations clearly.
- Get field work schedule signed off by Mentor and Brokerage
- In addition to the schedule, put aside some time each week to communicate, 30-60 minutes. Mark it out on your schedule, and mark it a regular time.
