When I was growing up as a child, almost all photos were black and white. My father set up the projector and  my sisters and I  sat on the floor while dad showed family photos and told a story.

I didn't care how many times I saw the slide show, as long as we were all together and nobody was complaining - Life was Good!

This photo was taken last February when I visited Florida. I thought a lot about my past on my trip. This photo was special to me.  It reminds me that everyone is on a life journey. I really do believe, that no matter what kind of obstacles you face

LIFE IS GOOD!

Lovely shot, Patricia,  and so very Florida-looking (not today, of course). Even with the damage from the storm - LIFE is Good!

as I looked at your B&W photo, Patricia...I noticed ..center stage..something quite remarkable...(is it a giant air-plant?...)...and I htought...how wonderful to be so "uplifted" ...along the journey...

Patricia,

Excellent shot of our Florida, and the black and white is great. :)

Patricia, I love trees, and these are unusal and beautiful Banyan trees.  As a kid, my sisters and I were always climbing trees, and swinging on grapevines....oh the memories...I love 'em.  THanks for sharing the photo!

Yes, Patricia life is good. I think there is a rainbow of color hidden deep in the shades and shadows of black and white. Life is good when you see it differently. I love this series and thank you for letting me walk with you in your experience of these amazing trees.

Rebecca... trees stir up our imagination, don't they? I loved climbing trees as a kid too! The Banyan Trees have something special to them, don't they?

I remember swinging across a river on a grapevine as a teenager. I managed to get on the other side. My cousin, who thought it looked so cool, did not. She ended up in the river and we laughed until we cried!

Steve... Florida has so many great things to offer. I was in love with just about everything I saw! I look forward to the day I can get back there. In my opinion, all of Florida is a place to visit, not just Disneyland, or Disney World... sorry, I don't know the difference. I'm not one for amusement parks, I don't need roller coasters to feel great, I just need to be surrounded by natural beauty and those Banyan Trees were one of many I enjoyed.

janeAnne... It could be an air plant, I don't know? Or is it mistletoe? I really don't know but my spirits were definitely lifted! It was also a great place to mediate and soak up the Florida sunshine!

Toni... I heard about the terrible storms. Floridians are so strong. Nothing can destroy their spirits. I hope the clean up has begun and things are getting back to normal.

Roy... black and white are colors too! I know what you mean. Having a preference is great. Some times, change is good!

Thanks for the brightening up my post with your colorful flowers!

Barbara Jo... I have not heard of the Thomas Edison Estates. It was at the botanical gardens in Sarasota. I can't remember the name of the place at the moment. The gardens gave me ample time for reflection after the passing of my aunt.

James... Life is Good because of you. I couldn't imagine life on ActiveRain without someone is kind as you. I'm glad you survived and that you're no longer a cop. Now you police lenders to get their jobs done!

You're a great man James. Your family is blessed and so are we on ActiveRain to have you.

Patricia, digital photography certainly has its advantages...just click a button and you can manipulate a photograph anyway you want. I think there's a special warmth or character though that can been seen maybe felt with B&W film. I also like the intimate knowledge one needs of how time, exposure, chemical, temperature and paper contributes to a true work of art that the old masters knew so well.
