Big brother stops the Padres

I always get the feeling that when Felix Hernandez time comes to pitch a game for the Seattle Mariners it always comes up during a team’s losing streak.  Over the last several years he’s become the Mariners stopper.  It just reminds me of playing ball during the summer and your team is just getting hammered until your big brother gets there to fix everything.  Felix is Seattle’s big Brother

Last night he had another Felix –like-performance, allowing the Padres 1 run, 6 hits, striking out 10 and over seven innings in addition to driving in two runs.  The win ended a Seattle 4 game losing streak.

The much needed win by the 2010 Cy Young winner added some welcome relief to a Mariner starting pitching staff that had gone 0-3 with an 11.17 ERA over the last four games.

The Mariners have a Sunday afternoon 1 PM  (6/24/12) game with the Padres at Petco Field before returning to Safeco Field for a much anticipated 3 games against the Athletics, 4 with the Red Sox and completing the home stay with 3 games against the Orioles with final game of the series July 4th starting at 1 PM.
