Started in 2004, the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary began with just a few chickens and a rooster that had been rescued. Now it is a thriving farm, hosting school field trips and public events, all while continuing to rescue and find homes for abused farm animals.
But you don't have to be a strict vegetarian or "anti-farms" to appreciate the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary; in fact it's quite the opposite! Sadly, as smaller-scale, family farms are dwindling away in the Hudson Valley region and beyond, the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary is increasingly becoming one of the few places that the general public (our younger generations in particular) can see a working farm and interact with the animals.
