Hacienda PoolI have to say that Hacienda Tres Rios is one of the finest resorts I've ever stayed!

One of the world's most eco-friendly resorts, Hacienda Tres Rios sits on a 64 acre wildlife preserve. There are 3 rivers that open at the cenotes then run down to the Caribbean sea, for a unique look at a mix of salt and fresh water.

It's a nature park resort.

On day one we enjoyed a walk through the resort running across iguanas, ducks, fish, and a unique animal that we've named the ca-coon - it looks like a cross between a cat and a raccoon.This is us jumping off the bridge that connects the fresh water lagoon to the resort.

 

 

 

 

  Swim with dolphins

I had a chance to do something I've always wanted to do....

It's always good to try to overcome fears. All of my life I have been afraid of fish, any kind, minnows included. I don't even eat seafood, I just can't get over it psychologically. So I told myself over and over again, they're not fish, their mammals. They're mammals. They're mammals....... I got in even though it was very cold water, smelled like fish, and they were feeding fish to engage the dolphin activity. I still will avoid fish, but for this one instance, my love for dolphins allowed me to overcome the anxiety.

Hi Cathy - That looks like a great trip. Your ca-coon was probably a Coatimundi, cool racoon like creatures - I think they live in South and Central America. And swimming with the dolphins is definitely fun - Mary & I did it in Puerta Vallarta - though PETA hates it. Glad you're back - now get to work!
