At the end of the day I understood those people who watch HGTV all day and think they know "EVERYTHING" there is to know about searching, choosing, inspecting and financing a home.  Yes I know that cooking and home buying are different.  But I did decide I could buy a kitchen torch and tackle creme brulee because I'm a food network junkie.

I read about 100 recipes before I decided which one I was going to try.  In the end, I choose Alton Brown's that Donald picked.  It had over 224 reviews and still had a five start rating.  Wow wonder if I'll have a 5 star rating when I have 224 reviews on zillow?

So today when Donald took off to walk the dogs I started the cream to a simmer with a fresh vanilla bean split and scraped.  I won't take you through the entire recipe that I linked above.  But I have to tell you that the 3 hours I had was supposed to wait for it to chill turned into just 2 and a half.  And I didn't burn down my kitchen.  And well it was rich and creamy and wonderful when I finally pushed my spoon through that sugar crust.  I think I'll have another tomorrow.    Right now I have to get back to watching Iron Chef America.  I just saw some banana's wrapped in ham, topped with crem fresh and cheese... I feel a shopping trip in my future. I'll let you know how that turns out.

You are so right about that.  But in all honesty sweets are not my problem.  I'm a bread girl.  LOVE my bread.  Haven't had any in days, but LOVE my bread.

Tammy~ How long did it take to make?  I don't have a lot of patience for cooking.  Rich does most of the cooking in our house.

Donna- prep time was about 20 minutes, cook time about 40 minutes, cooling time about 3 hours, then another 3 minutes browing the sugar on top.
