If you are planning on a Relocation to Hawaii you may want to consider the community of Mililani, Hawaii which is centrally located on the island of Oahu in Honolulu County. Mililani is a Master Planned Community and we have a population of approximately 30,000 people. The first homes went up for sale around June 1968 and our H-2 freeway opened in 1976 which lessened the time to travel to Honolulu. With three shopping centers, a 14 plex theater, 7 recreation centers (5 have pools), parks, Mililani Golf Course and activities galore we have a lot of what we need in our central location.

My parents bought their brand new Castle and Cooke home in 1971 in Mililani Town which is on the west side of the freeway. My mom still lives in that same house a few blocks from my office although the community is HUGE compared to 'way back then'. Our Mililani Town Community Association does inforce covenants and design standards so be aware there are subdivision documents to look over and abide by as a a new homeowner and resident.

In 1986 Mililani was named an "All American City" and IS the only community in Hawaii to receive this distinction and in 1990 there was a ground breaking ceremony for Mililani Mauka which was to be a much newer and much more modern side of the community on the east side of the H-2 freeway.

We have had many more milestones and tributes such as "2004 American Idol contestant,  Jasmine Trias" who was a Mililani resident and Money Magazine's 2005 article that named Mililani as one of the best places to live.

In Be Part of the Solution For Your Market; Because "Shift" Always Happens I gave a few median sales prices statistics over the years and it was pretty general for the island of Oahu.

The following statistics will give you a better idea on how our market is doing in the Mililani Community during the past month from December 1, 2007 until today.  Our prices have not gone down but a smidgen and in fact had gone up until the last quarter of 2007.  Our market is currently stable as far as sales prices are concerned although the number of sales went down over the last year although the activity is surely picking up the last month!

Sally - I just saw on the news that Hawaii now has more millionaires than any other state. That's incredible and only good for your economy. I love your relocation pieces..you do such a great job for your clients.

Our stats actually slipped to fourth place!  Hawaii was first in 2006 and slipped last year.

Marlene: Still not too bad...in fact, the past month it's shorter time on the market. The only ones that stay up there a long time are the ones still overpricing :)

P.S. Now remember...other neighborhoods like EWA are a different story....stay tuned.

Kathy: We have MANY parks here...love it. (I think the one you're talking about was the big regional one by Waipio Gentry though ...remember?)

Pat: Mililani is a highly desirable (because it's centrally located and a planned community) area therefore if priced right....they go. Some stay on the market for just a few days.

Jeff: Thanks!  I've lived around this area most of my life....maybe you can take a drive :)

Margaret:  Thanks there Margaret...I do love it here!

Sally, I'd have to wonder who wouldn't want to live there, you've got a bit of paradise.  Every time you post Hawaii moves up on my list of places to see :)  It really does sound beautiful and I really do plan on coming there one day, I've got to see all this in person!

Hi  Sally, This sounds like a wonderful place to call home. I favor planned communities even with all the rules that must be adhered to. Are you a part of the Mililani Community Association. If not I would bet they would be very happy for your involvement. Then again, who wouldn't be, :-)

How are you? Getting ready for family on the 22nd and seem to be more busy than this time last year. Lots of new potential business and it is keeping me hoping around like a bunny.

I posted today the news about B of A and Countrywide and there seems to be a lot of mixed feelings as to if this is good news or not. I personally think it is.

I mentioned you to one of clients yesterday who owns property in Oahu. They own a 3 Bedroom that rented till May but then they want to sell and I recommended you and told them all about you. So hopefully as the times nears I will be sending you a referral. Ya See , if you get the listing, it might be necessary for me to fly over there and check to make sure you are doing all the marketing just perfectly,:-).

Hey any excuse to get there would be so fun to meet you and your family. Sure am envious of the CRS group and all the great new personal friends you will make in that group when they arrive there later this month.

Stay well and Happy!
Your Friend Always and Always,
William

Sally sounds like a great community, but three shopping centers????  My wife would never be home, and I would have to move in with you and Gary because I would be broke ……. LOL

I am constantly amazed at the sheer beauty of the islands, no matter where you take the photo.  I must be very relaxing to be able to see water or mountains in almost every view.

Those home prices don't look so bad either.

TLW: Why of course :)  I grew up :)

George: Two are medium sized ones but the Mililani Town Center is pretty big...including WalMart and a City Mill in the outer parts. By our office is Ross Store...woohoo!  You'd sleep under the desk then....because our one bedroom is way small and our living room is all office haha.

Lenn: Yeah it is....no wonder I love it here :) Not too bad....the ones that go quicker are the 500-600k range.
