 Las Cruces and golfing go hand in hand! Four courses are available to while away those sunny New Mexico days. Golfing in the desert is a unique experience that is heightened by the beauty of the surrounding mountains.

Right in the heart of the city is the Las Cruces Country Club. This course has 18 holes, a pro shop, bent grass greens and open bent grass fairways. Add to that the paved cart paths, a driving range and putting greens and you have the makings for a great golf outing.

If you want to mix business with pleasure, Las Cruces Country Cluboffers a 600 square foot meeting room, dining and catering services as well as a 2500 square foot ballroom that allows for gatherings up to 150 people.

New Mexico State University, the only land grant university in New Mexico offers it’s own professionally designed golf course. Surrounded by the Organ Mountains, this Floyd Farley course boast more than 7,000 yards of challenging golf. All skill levels will enjoy the variety, as the course is reminiscent of the best of both desert and traditional golfing. The large greens and vast fairways will bring a smile to anyone who loves to hold a club.

Picacho Hills is a private golf course in Las Cruces, that offers reciprocal agreements with other private facilities. Lush blue grass fairways and bent grass greens mark this 6880 yard par 72 golf course. Magazines gush over the beauty of this course saying things like: "Picture an emerald lying on a mound of sand…dark green, shining jewel in striking contrast with its surroundings. That’s the first impression of the Picacho Hills Country Club golf course."

Picacho Hills is open Tuesday through Sunday and occasionally on Mondays. Best of all, the weather is nearly perfect, with rain closing the course an average of just three days a year. The course is host to a number of prominent events including the Sun Country Amateur and Mid-Amateur, three US Open Qualifiers, an AJGA Nike All Star Classic, two Sun Country Challenge Cups, and the Sun Country Senior Section Championship and Professional National Championship qualifier.

The Sonoma Ranch Golf Course is the newest course in town. It is a long course boasting rolling hills in the heart of Mesilla Valley. Designed by Cal Olson, the bent grass greens and abundant bunkers make for a challenging course. All levels of golfers are welcome and each will find a challenge with a choice of five tee boxes. The course is complete with Paved cart paths, a club house and a great restaurant.
