Best Side of the Moon

By
Home Inspector with Charles Buell Inspections Inc.

Clearly Dark Side of the Moon ranks right up there with some of the greatest music of all time.

In the future, after lots of Pop Culture music is long forgotten, Dark Side of the Moon will be remembered, right along with Bruckner and Mozart.  Some things endure in human culture, while other things are just phases of a given time.  Just like the phases of the moon endure over time, for music to endure it must be able to transcend the time it which it was born.

I really hope that if there is some being on some distant planet searching the cosmos for radio signals, that they come across Breathe, Us and Them or Eclipse instead of Tip Toe Through the Tulips, MacArthur Park or Having my Baby.

I suspect that you, my readers, will all be greatful I didn't provide any links to these last three---and yet angry with mem for the rest of the day, when some of them get stuck in your head anyway.

Dark Side of the Moon

I have no idea how to tie all this into a post about home inspections, other than the picture, that I have to go with the post, was taken in a Dark crawl space and reminds me a bit of what it might be like to approach the “Best” Side of the Moon.

Charles: Thanks for the post- it did raise some nostalgic memories for me, although my favorite Pink Floyd album is The Wall.  :)

Hi Charles,

I really do miss the days. You know the ones I'm talking about.

I really like the Fleetwood Mack's greatest hits album. SOOOO GOOD.

Have a great day in Seattle my friend.

Best, Clint Mckie

Hi Charles - I agree with your assessment of the Dark Side of the Moon, but I sure could have done without the Tiptoe reminder - I'm going to be fighting to keep that out of my head all day long. And if that one is ever intercepted in space by an advanced civilization, we might find ourselves fighting an intersteller war over the insult.

Andrew if I was only allowed to choose one Pink Floyd album from my collection it would probably have to be "Wish You were Here."

Clint, didn't you spell "days" wrong?  Shouldn't it be "daze?"

Dick, that sounds like an Earth reaction :)

Charlie, Shine on you crazy diamond.

The Lunatic is on the grass!!!

You lock the door, and throw away the key. There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear, you shout and no one seems to hear
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Oh by the way "tiptoe" is a horrible song, it is instantly in my head!!!! The lunatic is in my head ; )

Charles -- you mean their wasn't plastic sheeting under the home?  It is an interesting pattern you captured.

Don, I am just sparkling away here :)

Steven, this was a concrete slab in a 7000 sq ft crawl space under a commercial building---vapor barrier is under the concrete.  The indentations in the concrete were formed when water hit the concrete while it was still wet.

I find it funny that music our parents hated as being rock and roll is now played as easy listening music. I'm getting old...

What magnification did you use on the telescope to get that photo of the moon?  Great shot!

And if some other planet ever hears Tiptoe, they will be sure to avoid this solar system next time they are by...

And let's not forget Brain Damage, the prelude to Eclipse. I have a special fondness for that tune.

Paul, there is a lot of good new music too

Jay, I brought out the big guns for that picture

Jim, any number of Floyd songs are awesome---like Wish You Were Here

Chris, trust me when I say I would never have remembered that song without its being on a list of top ten worst songs of all time :)

I am going to see Roger Waters perform The Wall next month in DC!  Will think of you while I am there.  Wish you Were here is my favorite Floyd song but I will settle for Goodbye Blue Sky!
