Reno's 4th of July CelebrationsThis year, the 4th of July falls on a Wednesday.  But that doesn't mean there won't be anything to do.  While the City of Reno itself will not be sponsoring a fireworks display or an Independence Day parade this year, you can still enjoy a safe, legal pyrotechnic display in Reno and Sparks.  Reno's 4th of July celebrations extend all throughout the city and into Sparks.

Celebrate America's birthday with America's favorite past-time...baseball!  The Reno Aces will be playing the Las Vegas 51s in a home game at Aces Ballpark on Tuesday evening, July 3rd at 6:35pm.  Following the game, the ballpark (located at 250 Evans Ave in Reno) will be holding their own fireworks display for visitors.  There will also be other 4th of July-themed activities going on before and during the game.  Click here to purchase your tickets before they are sold out.

4th of July Piano Fireworks - Steinway Piano Gallery (500 E Moana Ln, Reno), 6pm-7:30pm.  Four concert pianists battle it out with piano concerto fireworks.  Wine, champagne and traditional fireworks follow.  The event is absolutely free.

Camp Pendelton Marine Band - Wingfield Park (on Arlington Ave, between Truckee River Ln and Island Ave, in Reno), 7:30pm-9pm.  Listen to the 45 piece band made up of marines from Southern California's Camp Pendelton perform patriotic music.

Star Spangled Sparks - Sparks Marina Park (300 Howard Dr, Sparks), 6am to 3pm.  This free, family-friendly event starts off with tethered hot air balloon rides at 6am followed by a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.  The parade of boats and boat races take place at 9am.  Opening ceremonies begin at 10am, with the Sparks Idol Competition beginning at 11am.  At 3pm, the fun moves to Victorian Square for more entertainment, capped off by a beautiful fireworks display at 9pm.

Even though Independence Day falls in the middle of the week this year, that doesn't mean Reno won't be celebrating.  There will be several places to enjoy Reno's 4th of July celebrations.  Keep in mind that all fireworks other than authorized public displays are illegal in Washoe County.  If caught, violators may be subject to large fines and possible jail time.  Whatever you choose to do to celebrate America's birthday, make sure you do it in a safe and sane manner.
