What say you? Client came out to see homes. Now they know where they will buy. Showed home then wrote contract on a short sale for home at Province, Maricopa and then sent to client who had returned home. She noted it did not have an agent referral in there and when questioned, she said that she had mentioned it, but Ed yhis. We have not heard or signed an agreement of any kind for a referral. I stood my ground and explained this was done between agents and brokers and if nothing had been submitted accepted and signed before first meeting the client, then no referral would be given. I am still holding firm on principal even though I could have lost the chance to earn my commission. They discussed and decided to go forward, but were not happy with my decision. There has been no contact from a referral agent.

Be interested in hearing what other agents say.

So your clients ( the potential buyers) are now trying to say that an agent from their home town referred them to you? If so, that agent normally would contact you ahead of time. Sounds like some agent is trying to insert themselves into the tranaction after the fact to try to claim a referral fee? I'm not sure I'm understanding the scenario 100% though?
