Did everyone in Juneau wake up January 1 and decide that 2008 was THE year to buy real estate?

I am starting to think so.  Actually, I kind of hope so!  When I've been really busy working, I've noticed a few things:

  • Laundry starts to pile up.
  • When I get home, I have no idea what we are having for dinner.  Sometimes everyone else has already had dinner by the time I get home.
  • The animals, even the cats, get clingy.  The husband does a little too!  LOL
  • Things I volunteer to do start to overwhelm me (Why did I say yes?)
  • The house gradually gets messy.  Did we get new carpet?  No, that is pet fur!
  • I fall asleep too early
  • The alarm clock goes off too early.
  • My brain turns to mush at about 8PM
  • I start separating "To Do" lists into priorities:
    1. Must do right nowPuzzle of Time
    2. Must do today
    3. Need to do this week
    4. Should do this quarter
    5. Maybe I don't need to do!
  • I start to wonder if I have time to BLOG!

How do people do this day in and day out?

I know we all have lives and we all start out with the same 24 hours in our day.  Some people just seem to get more done than the rest of us.  Or, maybe they don't.  I can only worry about me.

2008 is going to be a great year for business.  I just know it is.  Interest rates are so low, I can feel them, like the beating of a drum.  The market has created enough buzz everyone is talking about it.  Prices that kept going up and up and up and have finally levelled off to the point our market is almost affordable.

My oldest son is in college, my youngest one is almost grown, and my husband and I finally get some time to ourselves.  Maybe we need another honeymoon!

But blogging?  This may have to take a back seat for a little while while it all gets sorted out.

Pat - You snuck in there!  Juneau's doing fine all things considered.  It's dark and cold but it is winter.  The market seems healthy even though Anchorage once again is trying to get the capital and legislature moved.  There's one I need to blog about.  Sheesh they have been talking about that since before I was born.  Remarkably though, things are good and I think they will continue to be good here.

I blog late, after all my most productive activities are done for the day.  I happen to be a night owl.

You could blog before your day starts if you are the early bird type.  Then you can manage your time better.  Blogging and commenting can be very addictive.

Good point, Konnie... we've got a big house and I need to concentrate on taking things to the room they belong.  I'd probably even get a little workout in this place.  Usually I have it under control, but the last month or so, with my oldest one home for Christmas break, plus another houseguest, things have just gotten out of hand.  Time to get back on FlyLady!

Richard - I tend to blog late as well, long after most of the country has gone to sleep (I'm in Alaska, so very far west).  Tonight though, I just started earlier.  I guess I was stopping myself from doing the dinner dishes!

Debbie- Congrats on being busy, that is a good thing. The same thing here! IN FLORIDA! The worst market in the US and we got swamped in December and still going strong, but I will always find time to blog because that is how we are getting a lot of this business, that and our expired listing program! Katerina - I know I should continue to blog because business development must continue.  I just found myself just plain t.i.r.e.d. this evening.  I'm getting my second wind!  The kitchen is almost clean.

I feel the crunch too. This has been my best start to a new year ever. The market is exploding in Charlotte and there are many sales happening each week. Does not leave alot of time for sleep.

Kurt - Sometimes I feel a voice telling me I can sleep when I'm dead!

Roberta - Right now it isn't just real estate.  I'm a little overwhelmed with some volunteer projects (need to say NO once in a while - I'm learning!)  Plus with the boys both home and long term house guest, hubby working all weird hours, etc....

I got lucky but it's kind of a bummer for my client.  The family has the crud.  They were my whole Saturday.  That's okay.  I'm going to putter.  I may even turn off my phone.  I'm getting my house in order and spending time with my sons when they are not out with friends.  Lemonade!

I have noticed in our market that folks are coming out of their shells finally too. I still dedicate 1 hour per day to AR!

I just had to do a super long day for the first time in a while. It felt kind of good to be exhausted. Now if only my clients were the only ones writing offers on the houses they choose!

Hmmmmm.... I see your point LOL

I mostly Lurk and read others Blogs... I find it much easier and less repetative to make 20 comments rather thatn write a Blog that 10 other people have written a Blog about in the last 24 hours...

PLUS... it is my "quiet" time from about 10pm to 1am... my 4 kids are sleeping.

Peeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaccccccccceeeeee :0)

Hi, Debbie: "...How do people do this day in and day out?... "  At very weird hours.  As for content.... we interact with the general public and real estate folks... how much more material could we possibly need? :)  Sorry to hear the family has the crud... it's going around here as well.  We're doing our best to avoid it like the plague.

Sarah - I have several on the fence as well but it's going to get crazy soon.  I can feel it.

Sara Lee - I've got my idea list and I don't see them all as "used up" content.  Quiet time is definitely special time especially when the kids are little!  As it is, I'd settle for alone time once in a while.

Jesse & Kathy - Yes, I know how they get it done, and we are all up at weird hours... However I do not find myself lacking for content.  I think it's easy to come up with local, relevant content for my blog.  May you remain crud free, and have a good weekend...

Debbie - January's been exceptionally busy for our team here in St. Petersburg, too. Sometimes you just CAN'T do everything - it's physically impossible. When that happens, you have to establish priorities, and not feel guilty.

I LOVE Flylady and couldn't make it without that to guide me, LOL!  In fact that is why I write for 10 minutes a day.   I can always find 10 minutes.  And by the end of the week I hae a new blog or two written.  Thanks for the great post!!!

Me too!!!  A listing I have that hadn't been shown in months finally starting getting some attention.  Yeah!!  I've noticed I have not had as much time either.  I try to limit the amount of things on my to do list that I actually can achieve.  THen, I'm not as disapointed when I don't complete everything.  Do all my work, connect with my clients and clean entire house now only has, clean kitchen:)

Oh Debbie! I'm right there with you.....the days seem to end all too soon lately. I guess it's a good thing, but I do miss being able to spend more time blogging and reading. Then again, I know November/December will come around soon enough and I'll likely be glued to the keyboard LOL!
