Grant Ute at the Alameda Museum Lecture Series
Grant Ute will be the featured speaker at the Alameda Museum Lecture Series on Thursday, June 28 at 7:00 pm at the Alameda Museum at 2324 Alameda Avenue in Alameda.
Grant is a transportation buff who was one of the organizers of the Museum Train and Trolley tour. The circular route showed us what remained of the former train stops, buildings, and why our roadways curve through town. The tour was a big hit with the 60 attendees and was highlighted with pictures from earlier years of the Alameda train stations.
Grant has collaborated on several books about trains including Alameda by Rail and San Francisco’s Municipal Railway: Muni. Both books are crammed with wonderful photos and fascinating nuggets of knowledge about the rail systems in Alameda and San Francisco in the late 1800’s and the 1900’s.
Grant’s latest collaboration is entitled “A Century of Public Transportation in San Francisco. He will discuss his latest book and show slides from the book. If you love trains and their importance to our history, you should not miss Grant’s speech.
I write about all things Alameda. On Fridays I write a blog post called Things to do in Alameda which is about events for the whole family to enjoy in Alameda. If you like what you see here, please come back for more or visit me on my Facebook page Living In Alameda.
