The Charlotte area continues to get national recognition for its excellent public high schools--both on the North Carolina side and the South Carolina side of its border. Five Charlotte/Fort Mill area schools have been recognized as among the country's best in 2012.
Three Charlotte area high schools are on Newsweek's 2012 list of "America's Best High Schools" list: Ardrey Kell High School in the Ballantyne area (UrbanDictionary called Ardrey Kell High School the best in all of Charlotte!) of south Charlotte; Providence High School in south Charlotte; and Weddington High School in Weddington. Ardrey Kell High School is a relatively new school--just six years old so this is a great honor for the school. And all three of these high schools are North Carolina Honor Schools of Excellence! No wonder there is always demand for homes in the areas assigned to these schools and often it seems as if there's a shortage of homes in these areas!
Two Fort Mill area high schools have been put on US News & World Report's 2012 list of top public high schools: Fort Mill High School and Nation Ford High School--both listed in the top 8% of the country's high schools. Fort Mill High has also been ranked as #9 in South Carolina, while Nation Ford has been ranked #14. Here, too, because of demand for these school districts we often see a shortage of homes.
