Now I remember why I love this job. I make memories everyday!

From October to December....I experienced a theft of all inventory in two staged homes, death in the family, moving into the studio/warehouse, the holidays, and buying MORE (and holding my breath) inventory because we had MORE vacant homes...I have been on auto pilot.

Today I did a redesign with my associate, Julia.  We really work well together.  Both of us dig into a project from the second we get there.  We discuss, move big stuff together, go off and do our own thing, discuss...  I forgot how enjoyable redesign is since we have been, for the most part,  immersed in vacant staging projects.

Redesign really makes your creative juices flow. and things that can give you a laugh can lead to a great memory to recall one day...Here's the one I made today:

In the home we did today, the husband is fascinated with American Indians.  There was Indian memorabilia everywhere.  After Julia and I practically got hernias moving his massive desk to the other side of the room, I made it an area where I highlighted his collections.  I placed a folding screen by the desk and began to hang his dream-catchers and feathers on it.  There was a leather bag with feathers on it that I put one place, couldn't figure out what to do with it so I carried it around while I chose other things to place on the shelves, carried it around some more and finally decided to hang it on the screen.

At the reveal...he was happy- so was the wife...whew.  He began to explain  the purpose of  the items I had hung on the screen.  READY...evidently I was carrying around several of his relative in that bag!  MADE ME LAUGH-and made a new memory!

Sorry for your misfortunes.

WOW!! The before and after pics look great.  Most of my properties are vacant and I am a little leary of buying/renting furniture in this market.  Any suggestions.

This is great... I love to see the positive results.  Keep it up.

Thanks

Joeann...expertise, even after lost count redesign and stagings I still get excited when we are done and I see the results...I always feel like I'm just starting never feel the epertise part but thanks.

Vangie:  Suggestions on buying furniture...that's hard.  I just was inundated with vacant requests and just took the plunge.  Hope the formula I created to make a profit WORKS...but everyone has their own way of creating the vacant staging formula and has to do what they think is right for them.

Thank you Georgina...

That looks so much better pulled away from the wall-there are too many linear thinkers out there!

Renee - Too funny about the bag you were carrying around - of course now it makes perfect sense though, right?

The room looks like they'll enjoy it - where were all those plants hidden before?

That is very creative and it appears to work well.

Take care!

Thanks Robert

Jackie...those plants were everywhere.  She had them tucked in corners in her sunroom...but most were faux.  However, at first I thought they were real that's how good they looked.  We felt there were way too many for our personal taste but she loves them so we used them.

Beautiful job!  That is too funny about the "ancestors in a bag"....the beauty of our job is the amazing people we meet and how we are all different.

Renee ~ It looks so much more balanced now!  Nice job!  That is funny about the bag.

There really were a lot of chairs weren't there?  Follow up job.... get them to add some paint!  That would really finish off the look.  Then again, I'm not a fan of white walls personally.  They almost always feel cold....

It is great that they loved what you did.  Whether some things were too personal for you or not, you gave them what they asked for & loved and that's what this business (redesign) is about.

Melissa:  As you know, redesign is not about us...she wanted the chairs we gave her the chairs.  She wanted the plethora of plants we gave her the plethora of plants  but we gave her all those things NOW with function, style and flow.

We actually chose paint for her prior to the redesign.  Sherwin Williams "Lemongrass" it is going to look fabulous.  We also chose for the other rooms too but again, the owner wanted the redesign first...our painter "who is one of the best" will take care to keep the integrity of our redesign...

Oh, I know about needing to leave the chairs.... I was just commenting that she had a lot of them!  I actually have a weird obsesion with chairs myself.  I don't think I own a lot of them, but I find myself infatuated with them in magazines, showrooms and antique stores.  I particularly love windsor backs.....

Lemongrass is a beautiful color and will look lovely with the feel of that room....

I wasn't posting negative about what you did, just commenting (much as you did with saying the plants were 'way too many for our personal taste'.)  On the contrary, I think the fact that you did something beyond what you liked is important... hence me saying, 'you gave them what they asked for & loved and that's what this business (redesign) is about.'
