We’ve been hitting the ground running every day for the last several weeks working with local clients and people moving into the mountains of Western North Carolina. Those people moving here either for full or part time all share one thing in common…they want to be closer to these most ancient of mountains.

Last weekend I had dinner at the new house of our friends from Charlotte, NC and even though the food was excellent…my favorite part of the entire evening was witnessing their contentment in just being here. They both described the feeling of all of their stress and tension peeling away when they drive up to their mountain home in Franklin, NC.

Dessert for me was realizing how fortunate we are as REALTORS to so often be a part of positive changes in other people’s lives, which creates positive changes in our own.

This isn’t just a job.

I agree that the mountains can have a calming effect which we all need.  Here in Naples people tend to get into the same rat race that they left up north.  Great blog.

Hi Mona, great photo. That alone evokes tranquility and serenity.

I like the look of the little deck, which appears at the edge of it all!  I could handle sitting there some evening, until my eyelids were too heavy for anything more than sleep!

Mona-That is indeed a great view and they say your home is your safe place from the world. A soft place to land so it is wonderful when you get to be a part of making that happen for folks. Most rewarding no doubt;.

Congrats on the feature

Mona, the relaxed feeling when coming home to a mountain retreat is akin to being on vacation every day!

Pretty shot. That is quite a view from the little deck. I see they kept it small to limit the number of people enjoying the view! (Makes it even more peaceful.)

Beautiful photo, Mona ... but even more beautiful was the sentiment within your post.  Being able to say that you find deep pleasure and satisfaction in helping others ... well, that's a gift.  I think I see those sentiments in agents more often than any other profession.  It's obvious when meeting you and Leslie that your work is a natural extension of your personalities ... and those hoping to buy and sell in the mountains of western North Carolinas are the lucky beneficiaries ...

Mona,

When you live in a place like this, it hard to stay humble.

It's wonderful to help make someone's dream come true.

The most rewarding part is knowing you played a part in changing someones life for the better. Beautiful picture.

Mona - Great photograph! My favorite part of this profession is assisting people with making their real estate dreams come true. Sounds like you did just that...made their dream come true. Well done!

I completely adore the mountains of North Carolina. It is one of my favorite places to visit each year. So I can understand the ease your clients felt, and the satisfaction you felt in turn. Thank you so much for sharing, this definitely made my day.

Friends, what can I say?  I am so appreciative of everyone's comments.  I worked all day getting the next few days schedule put together and never had a chance to check AR until just now am so humbled by your responses.  I can tell they are all intentional and thoughtful.

To Fernando, it is so painful to think about the devastation the fires are bringing to Colorado and New Mexico.  The loss of old growth and wildlife is profound.

To Michael, Franklin does have extraordinary views.  This one happens to be in Sylva though at one of my favorite places in the world...my friend Emory's house.

Thank you everyone...a feature?  I can't believe it.

There is an emotional paycheck that comes with a commission check.  I deal with the hesitancy of people moving to a small town after living in a larger city.  I love to bump into them months later and ask them how they like it.  Everyone says it is great.  Most frequent comment-- they are amazed at how quiet it is.

Gary, I know what you mean.  Thank goodness with the exception of one client...everyone has been glad they moved here.  With the one who wasn't...you know what they say, Where ever you go, there you are.

We often hear about how quiet it is and how dark at night since we don't have anywhere near the same number of street lights and light pollution.
