Earth, Wind and Fire:

While Colorado battles to save homes from the insane numbers of fires in their state, parts of eastern Montana are also struggling to control fires. NW Montana far surpassed June record rainfalls and had very cool days inters pursed with beautiful, warm summer days. We had high winds and power outages last weekend which toppled trees. Flooding is a concern this week after a very aggressive storm passed through the Flathead Valley on Tuesday. All this moisture has protected our part of the state from fire so far this summer.

When we put our sailboat in Flathead Lake last week, we were surprised to see how high the lake was. Hungry Horse Dam is trying to control the flow into the lake from the Flathead River, while the dam in Polson at the south end of the lake is doing the same.

We had a great lunch at the Pocketstone Cafe in Bigfork last weekend. Many tourists roaming around town on a sunny day. The Swan River was rushing past town into Flathead Lake. We had never seen that river so high or rapid. Kayakers love it! The "wild mile" on the river must indeed be wild.

Monday morning I took my cardio exercise outside for a bike ride up and down hills in the sunshine, enjoying the mountain and farm land scenary. Sure beats a treadmill!
