Thanks for these tips. I had no idea how thi work. Looks like I have some homework to do.
This is some excellent advice, and I can see why it all makes sense. I plan to make a schedule to post more photos and videos on my Facebook pages. I do want to promote them, and it doesn't have to take a lot of time, if I post on certainly days at various times.
Sometimes I feel like I am writing but nobody is reading my posts. I need to check on views and clicks on my Facebook page and do the things you suggest. Thanks
Thanks for sharing these tips with us! Someone had just posted on FB the other day that their posts weren't showing up ... this may be the reason so I'll send them a link to your post.
This is some great advice. I do need to be adding more photos for sure. I had heard about this a while back. Thx so much for the reminder.
Great info! Thanks
Great tips to help improve your Facebook visibility. We are trying to add more photographs, and more engaging content. We also keep our eye on the "percentage reached" values of each post we publish.
Jeff
If you want to be found, you have to understand the algorithms being used by Facebook, search engines, etc. Thanks for pointing this out and your tips.
All great tips for yet another thing we have to be on our toes. .social media.. best advice I've ever received.. .concentrate on 3 social media platforms and master them!
Thanks for posting this. I always try to make sure that i get my edge rank up. That way it drives people back to my page to see my other posts. Facebook has also made the option of promoted posts a lot easier. So my very important posts I promote and that drives the edge rank up for me.
Great advice!!!
Thanks for sharing…. I’m really amazed of the different things I learn here on Activerain.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Great tips!
Thanks for the tips! Facebook likes to change the rules of the game ever so often.
More work to do on my fan page as I know I'm not gettting enough Edgerank.
I seriously have to wonder at the value of this. So what if my Edgerank is lower that it should be. I agree with social media marketing but I think we can get too wrapped up in these technical little things. Sorry just how I feel. I prefer to spend time writing blogs and getting visitors to my web site where consumers can do so much more.
thanks for the tips, I generally dont get too excited about facebook, but rethinking that strategy as of late.
WOW! Thank you all so much for your comments on our blog post! We were so honored to be featured, and we're glad that so many of you found this blog so helpful and informative. Facebook is an important part of online marketing today, and it's imperative that you do EVERYTHING that you can to get noticed.
Mark, we're glad to hear that you'll be incorporating our advice! We highly recommend keeping your content as "visual" as possible. People just respond better to photos, videos and infographics. People prefer to see that and comment on it. Keeping things humorous is also important. People love to laugh and those posts will get a lot more attention, as well.
Donna, we're glad that we could shed some light on your question! What so many fail to realize is that Facebook is about interaction, not advertising. You're not going to be seen if your page is one gigantic ad for your services. That's why it's so important to loosen up and focus on being interactive, not uber-professional.
Joy, we hope that these tips will prove to be helpful to you! Please let us know if you have questions about how to implement them. It takes some practice getting the hang of things, but you'll be glad you used this approach once your page starts getting some more viewers!
Barbara, you're absolutely right! Pictures do get a lot of attention, as do videos. There are so many studies out there that show that visual marketing content is far more effective than text. Utilize your surroundings to make your content visual and use technology to help create video. It's never been easier to create visual content on-the-go and upload it online.
Joan, Facebook can be tricky, and with all of the changes it's even hard for those of us who ARE on the site every day to keep up. Tech sites like AGBeat.com or Mashable.com typically announce these things right away AND give awesome tutorials on how to do everything. If you're looking to "do some homework", those sites are a great place to start.
You're right, Jerry! Facebook and Twitter posts can be scheduled so easily nowadays that you really can just block out time once or twice per day to do it. It's all about making time to engage, and whether you do it yourself or hire someone to help you, it needs to be done! We think creating charts and outlining a posting schedule definitely helps save time and forces you to be proactive and creative with your posting ideas. That's a great suggestion!
Evelyn, one great way to test the effectiveness of your Facebook posts is to look at your Insights. At the top of your Facebook page, you will see an admin panel that shows you charts and graphs showing how much fan interaction you're getting. Also, beneath each post it shows what percentage of your fan base saw that posting. Use these numbers to enhance and improve your overall online presence and strategize!
Maureen, did you ever send your Facebook friend the link to our blog? We're so flattered that you thought to share this with them and would LOVE to hear if it helped them out! Thanks so much for the great comment and we hope you'll continue to read our blogs.
Debbie, we're glad that we could remind you of this very important element of Facebook marketing! Thanks for reading and we hope that our tips are working for you :).
Mike, we're so glad you found our blog so informative! We hope you'll come back often and continue to read our posts!
Jeff, as we told Evelyn, paying attention to your insights underneath each individual post is a great strategy, and it really helps! It allows you to see what works and what's not working so you can tweak your strategy.
You hit the nail on the head, Michael. It's all about figuring out the algorithms and knowing what it is that other people are doing to be seen. With social media, a lot of that has to do with "letting go" and keeping things casual and engaging. Posting photos and videos is a great way to do that!
Wow Fernando, we're glad to hear that you thought our blog gave you the best social media advice you've ever gotten! We always encourage our clients to be on multiple social media sites, but to focus on the ones where they're seeing results more frequently than the rest. That way, your profiles are populated everywhere BUT you're paying attention to where it is the leads come from. For most, that is Facebook.
Gabrielle, we also think promoted posts are a great idea for important posts, but we also think it's kind of unfortunate Facebook makes you pay for it! You shouldn't have to pay to promote your own content! We do think, however, for VERY important announcements, that it is worthwhile just because it ensures your ENTIRE fan base will see it. Thanks for your thoughts! We hope you'll read more of our blogs.
Bob, we're glad to hear Facebook has been so integral to your marketing strategy! We hope that our tips and advice REALLY helps take things to the next level. It really is how people communicate today and we're glad that you've jumped on board. It places you miles ahead of the other agents who are still hesitant to do so.
Wandanna, isn't ActiveRain great? You really do learn so much on it, and it's a great way to interact with other agents. We're glad you found our post so informative!
We're glad you found our blog so helpful, Nogui! We hope you'll come back and read some more of our posts!
Doug, we agree! Facebook changes constantly, but we always make sure to stay on top of things. The best way to adjust to the changes is to dive right in and start playing with the new features. Now that you know what you need to be posting to get more EdgeRank, it's time to start doing it!
Christine, we're glad our post made you realize what you need to do to move forward on your Facebook page. If you ever need suggestions or have questions, let us know! We're happy to help you implement this.
Hi Corrine, thanks for the feedback! While we understand what you're saying, we also think that in order for Facebook to be effective, you have to be visible on it and engage with your community. If your posts aren't being seen, then Facebook won't be what works for you. Our suggestions are just ways for you to make sure it starts working and that your posts are being seen. Some prefer blogging and think it works better for them, and that's great! We think blogging is valuable too! We just also wanted to give some suggestions on HOW you can make Facebook just as valuable.
Bob, we're glad to hear you're rethinking your strategy. We know that to some, Facebook might not seem like a worthwhile use of your time, but the way that site has changed the way we communicate with one another can't be ignored. If you're a business, you NEED to be on Facebook because it makes you that much more accessible to your consumers, most of which we guarantee ARE using the site.
