peanut butter chocolate

These are by no means traditional cookies,
not least of which because they have NO flour, sugar (honey is used instead) or butter!

Made with peanut butter (get the natural kind), chocolate chips, honey and....chickpeas. Definitely not a typical cookie recipe but these are actually really tasty. And they don't taste like chickpeas.

Found the recipe on Pinterest (where else?!) and gave it a try this week - my husband devoured a few before I told him the ingredients, the neighbor taste tested them and she (and her kids) approved too. The day after I made them I "might" have had a couple for breakfast :)

The texture is a little different, more chewy and dense than a typical cookie but these are AWESOME warm, and they taste like peanut buttery/chocolatey goodness which is a pretty great combo.

What you'll need for the recipe:
Can of Chickpeas
Natural Peanut Butter
Vanilla Extract
Honey
Baking Powder
Chocolate Chips

The chickpeas don't go in whole so they get mashed up but then it's a matter of combining all the ingredients, forming the "cookies", baking and then having the patience to let them cool off slightly once they come out of the oven.

Thanks for the recipe Erin! Glad I found it and gave it a try :)

Love it! You should have your Pinterest link in your signature so we can find you. Love Pinterest. I have put chickpeas in chocolate chip cookies before but I am going to have to try this recipe!

I'd never heard of chickpeas in cookies before so was a little skeptical but they're good! And thanks for the tip on putting pinterest in my signature, hadn't thought of that!

Pinterest is definitely a downfall for me!  ;)  These cookies sound interesting and I think I am going to have to give them a try!  Hey, if kids approved, right?

Not a downfall if it serves as inspiration Leesa :) At least that's how I justify it! These really are tasty, the original blogger called then cookie dough bites and that's a good description, give them a try!
