What DOES $500/monthly budget get EBA Portland, LLC?

A very good question.

For some, $500 is not a lot per month to spend.

For others, $500 is.

I'm an Exclusive Buyers Agency so my focus is BUYERS!  Although I do plan on adding 2-3 more EBA's in the next year, GEARING UP to do that might mean that I up the monthly adversting dollars to $500 to generate the leads and establish more online presence for the upcoming expansion.

Recurring costs:

1.  Expansion budget:

This would include: hosting, web development, IDX.

Web hosting is cheap:  <$10/month through GoDaddy.  Not that I like/dislike GoDaddy, but for $10/month I can have unlimited sites hosted through their Deluxe webhosting.  GoDaddy's servers are large enough and they are big enough so I don't have to really worry about crap happening.  They do automatic back-ups just in case I forget, or worse . . . I depend on the hosts' server.

Site development:  Although not a recurring cost, there are costs involved with putting a kick-butt WordPress site together.  I'd have to allocate some time to create some sites I want to develop and time is money.

IDX:  My IDX of choice is Diverse Solutions.  Although I dislike Zillow and they bought Diverse Solutions last year, I do like the Diverse Solutions product.  The IDX Agent Press is currently $99/month.

COSTS:  $199.

2.   Advertising

ActiveRain:  Although I'm "grandfathered" in with over 500,000 points and don't pay for a Rainmaker account, I do have an outside blog and would consider getting a few more. ($60).   I would like to play around with Hit Router again ($100)

COSTS:  $160

FaceBook:  I want to get a targeted market (as we learned at RainCamp) and set something up with their CPC / PPC for specific target markets.

COSTS: $150

Carla, great blog. I haven't done any PPC stuff. Let me know how it works. I use HostGator, and they did a Black Friday or Cyber Saturday/Monday (whatever) thing where it was $1.99/month. I bought 3 years and upgraded to the unlimited thing for very little more.

Carla I too like the DS tool.  Simple and easy to use. Good luck on the expansion!

PPC ads anywhere is a whirling toilet like vortex on your wallet! Beware & set a limit & be sure that you get results. I didn't & quit.  I think you would be better setting up some niche market sites to attract more buyer leads for your new associates.  Wishing you the best with your expansion ideas - think big!

Top agents spend money on print and broadcast advertising as a means of keeping their name in front of the public. It's all part of their image.

Five hundred can buy a lot more when you do your homework, and it looks like you've been doing yours, Carla.  Good luck!

Love the infographic (is this a contest?) and congrats on the feature! You do not mention a car and according to the graphic, they are counting that as a big agent expense for 2011.

Your numbers add up to $599 right now. Which of these areas would you cut back first?

Hey Eric -- I heard Hostgator was good and what a SWEET deal you snagged!

Hi Anna B -- it's a year, or so, off . . .

Hey Lyn . . . thanks for your thoughts

Hi Sharon -- yes, they sure do, don't they

Hey Mike . . . it's not a bad budget to play around with and all things are relative ;-)

Hi Joan -- weren't you an EBA at one point? If so, then yeah, I can see why you'd think they were "endangered"

Hey Melissa . . . yes, this is ActiveRain's info-graphic.  They mention the car, but the challenge may/may not include that, I guess.  Here's the notice at the end of the post in case you want to read al about it:  This post is an entry for the $500 Real Estate Marketing and Tech Challenge. Carla, I love reading these posts written by members who are already successful in their business.  Reading where they would spend additional dollars is almost as good as reading the original survey done by AR.  Good luck in the contest.

Carla:

Thank you for telling me about Diverse Solutions IDX.  My current IDX is not good, but I don't want to spend too much money on it.  $99/mo seems reasonable.
