As this summer's heat wave continues and possibly exceeds triple digits, The Murfreesboro Salvation Army has a “cool” offer for locals.
Today and Friday, June 28-29, and also Monday and Tuesday, July 2-3, The Salvation Army is using its building as a “Cooling Station” for locals in the area.
From 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on those four days, The Salvation Army’s air-conditioned building; located at 1137 West Main Street is open to the public, to rest and to enjoy cold water, said new Corps officer - Lt. Andy Seiler,
“This is being done out of our concern for those in our community that are affected by the heat the most: senior citizens, children and those with health-related problems,” Seiler said in press release.
He stated that there are no requirements, no registration is required and no records with the name of visitors will be kept. Also, people can stay as long as they want within the hours stated.
“The Salvation Army does this at many of its locations across the U.S, and we are happy to provide this service to the community of Murfreesboro,” Seiler said.
The Salvation Army in Murfreesboro is 1 block from Old Fort Parkway and fronts New Salem Highway.
