74 Comments on The Ten Commandments of Home Lending in 2012
Thanks for making me smile!
Preach on Brother Rob!
I'm sure you could probably add another ten more without breaking a sweat.
My personal missing Commandment would be "Though shalt tell thy lender if they have not filed thine tax returns, for all will be revealed through thine 4506T".
Here's the one I wrote for Real Estate Agents;
Thou shall not view even one home without being pre-approved for a mortgage.
Thou shall not buy the first home that you view.
Thou shall not fall in love with the décor.
Thou shall read and understand the terms of the entire purchase contract.
Thou shall not be your own home inspector (unless you are one in real life).
Thou shall not quibble with the seller over minor repairs.
Thou shall not be your own lawyer (unless you are one in real life).
Thou shall not spend the money you have saved for your down payment.
Thou shall not spend the money you have saved for your closing costs.
Thou shall show up at closing with a certified check & homeowner’s insurance policy.
Good one! I will probably re-blog!
Rob, why did you make this a member's only post? This is great information for consumers.
Robert, That was a great start to read your post. How funny and true those words are. Everyone needs to see this if for no other reason than to have a good laugh, we all need that right now. Thank you for sharing.

Robert
Very clever
Today, I had an appraiser call to ask to be let back in the property because the underwriter wants him to take a picture of the carbon monoxide detector. It wasn't enough to note that it was there...they want a picture!
Very catchy and creative. Being a lender seems to be so much tougher nowadays with everything the government requires of you.
Nice post making light of some of the deal killing moves our clients unknowingly make.
I liked your post! I'm going to show it to some of my clients.
Rob, thanks I am going to share with all of my agents.
Love the one about not coveting or co-signing for your neighbor's motorcycle! Love it! That and the explanation of non-payroll deposits to the beginning of Genesis...
I had a good chuckle as I could relate to each commandment as recently as my last 2 transactions. Re-blog!
Your blog is interesting. It is both funny and helpful. Thanks for sharing the ten commandents with us.
Betty
Rob - Unfortunately, there is too much truth in these commandments and the frustrations that go with many of them.
Great Post Rob,
It makes you laugh however, it makes you cry when you have to repeat over and over do not use your credit cards to buy furniture before closing.
Hi Rob, Pretty funny stuff except that it too close to the truth ! LOL
Very humorous way to get the information across. Everyone in the business knows this is nothing but the truth! Thanks for sharing.
Very catchy post! I like your writing style. I had a chuckle!
