This is a great service that they are doing. In today's economy, people will continue to lose their homes unless intervention is done.

Hi,

Thanks for the effort, but I tried the number and it didn't go to anyone in the State of Indiana.  In fact, the "get Hope" webiste listed for Indiana has a  page where you can request a return call with your choice of the day of the week and time that's best.  I filled it in.  It's now two hours past the time fram given to me on the website and as of yet, no call!  So, I called the mumber and here's what I got:  Someone going over all the information on the website, once again.  The call was transferred to 1-877-995-4673  (I-877-Get Hope).  Well I'm sorry to say, NO HOPE THERE, EITHER. There wasn't anything offered of assistance that I didn't already find on the internet.

Just for once, I'd like to see someone in the federal and/or Indiana's government genuinely keep their word and actually do something like, oh, maybe, offer something in the way of real, tangible assistance for an `emergency period' in someone's lives.

Folks, people in America are losing their homes, left and right.  I know what it feels like because it's about to happen to me and I'm beginning to understand people's anger over these issues. In the meanwhile, we commit untold millions (Dare I say it?  Even billions?) to foreign governments to subsidize anything that'll gain their favor, while people in our own country are being made homeless and facing starvation.

The problem is as I see it, that our representatives are genuinely out of touch with the realities of life.  How could they not be, with their cushy jobs, sitting behind their desks and saying, "I understand".  well guess what?  You don't even have the beginnings of a clue, until you've lived it.  And If and when you ever do, then maybe you'll earn the right to say it. Until then, drop the rhetoric and DO SOMETHING REAL!

Hello Cubby your message concerned me. So i called 1-877-Get Hope from my home phone at 11:45 am CST today to check your issues out for myself. I was immediately told 2 choices #1 leave a message or #2 wait on the line (there were 2 calls ahead of me). I chose to wait and see what would happen, nd at 12:00 noon (15 minutes later) another recording came on the line and said thank you for waiting there is now only one call ahead of you!

It took 15 more minutes ( 30 minutes total ) before i spoke with a representative from "Momentum Credit Counseling Services" whom I read your entire message to - since you did not provide your full name or contact info - I could only relay your frustration.

The lines are flooded with calls like yours and there are probably a limited number of counselors taking these calls....so  leaving repeat messages along with repeat emails and calling daily even at several different times....you could break through. Also if you want to websearch the Company's name who answered the call for an alternate number, that may not be a bad idea as well.

Another thought - does your own lender have a program in place to work with you? (I know Countrywide announced recently that it was going to work with it's customers to prevent more foreclosures).

Also, Since this was a Credit Counseling service - perhaps there are others like this in your area listed in the phone book that you can visit in person?

Sorry your experience was different than mine.

there are plenty of lenders here on Active Rain - perhaps they can help with more suggestions.  one in NW Indiana Locally that comes to mind is Dave Woodsen - he has a blog here  I will email him for more advice

Sincerely,

Grace

p.s I pray these suggestions help you.

Cubby, I can understand your frustration and I share it with you.  I know for one that if you want anything done don't go to the gov't.  Have you called your lender that sold you the loan?   Don't wait to the last minute!  Most of them will work with you!  I know of one couple that I have been working with for over 6 months and I now have them ready to go.  Feel Free to give me a call @ (219)872-8000 ext 106 and I will do what I can to help guide you.

I am sorry that I did not get on here sooner, my only excuse was that I was finally taking a vacation after a year and I was REALLY sick that day, some bad seafood.  There are people out willing to help, Jeff and Grace ARE some of the best if not the best.  I will do what I can.  But, call the state when you have the time to hang on the phone with them don't let the off easy.  I have to call the state from time to time and I want to crawl through phone on them, but I have learned that if I treat them the way I need to be treated I get what I want a heck of a lot sooner than if I just jump on them.  Not to say you did or would, but I can read your frustration and I was there I would be a little snippy to say the least.
