It’s been a crazy week! One that has been busy, fun, but a little exhausting! However, this evening I am taking a little time to lighten up!
As some of you know, in addition to being a Realtor for the past 30 years, I also worked at an international software development company during the years 1997 and 2005. The job was slated to last a mere 3 months, but instead lasted 8 ½ years! The years moved swiftly, as I worked at the Research and Development Center, with folks exploring the cutting edge of technology. Sometimes, the exploration would have humorous results.
For example, in the photo cartoon below, I am pictured with a Senior Technologist, who had a question about layering in a graphic. Allaire was software we sometimes used. And the dialogue in the cartoon is actually verbatim what happened!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Myrl, They say that communication is very difficult at times! Great illustration of that!
Tony and Darcy - Communication can be difficult at times. The software company had amazing people from all over the globe - India, China, Transylvania, Pakistan, Australia, Lebanon, The Carribean, Sierra Leone, Chicago. . .tsk, tsk! I was always amazed with the language barriers that could have come into play, they didn't as much as one would have suspected! Those were wonderful years! By the way, in that photo tune, it was an American that I was having the communication problem with. . .LOL
Myrl it is amazing what one can hear or not hear in such a short distance. Good luck and Happy selling
I used to do computer repairs, had one lady who broke the cup holder on her computer and needed a new one. Yep, it was the CD tray.
Myrl, it is a nice change to find humor and a reason to smile after a long stressful week! Have a wonderful weekend!
Charles - It truly is! This little scene was a secret between the two of us, until it showed up in one of our company newsletters:-)
Lawrence - Now why are you making fun of that lady. Are you telling me you never used your CD tray as a cupholder? That little hole is positioned so perfectly. . .LOL
Joan - Yes, it is! I hope you are having a GREAT weekend!
Well I am not blonde but not sure what Alliare is anyway.
Oh well, as long as the job gets done.
It is amazing how a simple word or two can change the whole context of a conversation. Have a great weekend!
Hope you are having a wonderful, relaxing weekend to make up for that week!!!
I hope you are having a great weekend. Our power was off all day today due to the severe Friday night storm in Maryland.
Good one Myrl! I can identify. I was with Control Data 10 years and my wife with GTE for the same. Great experience and training and yes...met folks from all over the world. This helps us now since 30% of our clients are foreign born.
Myrl, This post really made me chuckle. Occasionally we find ourselves in a situation where we aren't speaking quite the same language as the person next to us. Luckily it doesn't happen very often.
The ability to articulate yourself clearly is a must have in any business, although the occasional mistake is bound to happen!
