pink sunflower in Santa Barbara

What we love about living in Santa Barbara is that 6 days a week there is a Farmers' Market somewhere in town.  We also love our flower growers who are a dedicated bunch (smile).  They are always surprising us with new varietals of plants and blooms.  Most of the flower stock is flown in from Holland because many of our greenhouse and field owners are of Dutch descent and they feel that Holland has the best when it comes to floral stock.

As we were walking around, we were astounded by the many varieties of sunflowers that were being sold today, like this buttery yellow one with a green center.

Then we potted this fluffy looking one with so many petals you can barely see the seeds.  This is probably a treat for long billed birds. We loved its orange tones.

And lthen there were these beauties, with their multicolored petals. We enjoyed watching people creating  beautiful bouquets of each variety.

Wishing you a delightful Saturday, from sunny Santa Barbara.

Oh, those are soooo pretty.  Daisies and sunflowers are among my favorite flowers because of the simplicity of them.

These really are beautiful.  My garden is finally starting to fill in and I'm so thrilled to have some color in the yard!  No sunflowers....maybe some day!

Ronald,

Next time you are in town give us a holler, we would love to meet you and swap some tales.

Suzanne,

They are one of my favorites also...they are really a spectacle in all those colors and shapes.  I am always astounded at the varieties we have of every thing.

Lee and Carol.

Love your description of the sunflowers as sunshine on a stem.  They are certainly that, and I love that they feed the birds also,.  Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.

Sharon,

I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your garden, it is probably as artistic as every thing you do, and before you know it the sunflowers will be there too.

William,

I agree with you, that is one of the best descriptions I have ever read.  Thanks for your comment and the compliment, it is always appreciated.

Happy Sunday, everyone. A
