13 Comments on Winchester, VA suffers major storm damage after powerful storm Friday
Mike, a five minute drive acros Rock Creek Park took a lot longer. There was a lot of yellow police tape.
Pat, did you all get hit hard also? I wasn't sure how far east it traveled.
Wow. Looks like quite a storm. Is your place ok? Should bring a lot of work your way for your contracting business. Sorry it has to come this way.
Cal
Not cool. Stay safe, Pat.
We're well, Cal. I expect to hear the phone ringing tomorrow for electrical service calls. Much of the area still has no power. So, once it's back we should see a pick up in business.
Thanks, Laura. Sounds like it was about 80 miles wide.
Wow Mike, Are you and your family ok? I hear it is 9 states that had bad weather. Hope the chains saws are working .
Thanks, Will, we're good. I talked to a client from Tangier Island tonight. They got it as bad or worse than we did. Sounds like it covered quite an area.
Hi Mike, glad to hear you are okay! It was unbelievable how fast the storm moved - it started about 11 pm in my area - and how violent it was. We had a few trees down in the neighborhood and my next door neighbors lost their gutter but considering all we were very, very lucky! 70 mph winds are no joke.
Mike - glad you are fine. That's the power of nature demonstrated at God's will. A lot of power...
Glad you are fine! We were watching for tornados last night but all is well. My husband also grew up in Tulsa OK and he does not get as worked up about the thought of a tornado as I do.
You were, Andrea. It was one of the most violent storms I've been through that wasn't a tornado. Yeow! Glad you guys made it through OK.
Definitely a lot of power in this, Jon. Our area is a mess.
Thanks, Kathryn. When I lived in Tulsa we had one real powerful tornado that cleared out 5 city blocks. It was amazing. I have lot of respect for tornados.
Hi Mike - I'm glad you made it through that okay. Mother Nature has been throwing some interesting stuff at us lately - unpredictable and destructive. Stay safe!
I would definitely take the high winds and rain over the fires. You guys are getting beat around too. We're thinking and praying about CO.
