A week full of July Fourth holiday celebrations began Saturday with fireworks and a parade at Troutman’s annual Independence Day Festival. It continues with three more fireworks shows in the coming days – three in the Mooresville area and one in Statesville.

In Mooresville, fireworks extravaganzas are planned at Lowe’s YMCA on July 3, and on July 4 at Queen’s Landing and Trump National Golf Club.

The annual Lowe’s YMCA “Summer Celebration” on Tuesday is expected to draw another crowd of at nearly 30,000 people. Starting at 4 p.m., there will be music, games and food vendors, concluding with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Area veterans will be honored in a ceremony with a flag presentation at 8:45 p.m.

Admission is free, and proceeds from the sale of food and drinks will go to the Lowe’s YMCA Community Support Campaign. The fundraising goal from Tuesday’s event is $35,000, much of which will come from sponsors and four major vendors -- Brusters Ice Cream, Thirty One Gifts, Benchwarmers and Mathnasium. Cornelius North Carolina, Huntersville North Carolina, Mooresville North Carolina, Lake Norman, Denver North Carolina.

Money will also be raised by allowing people to purchase reserved parking close to the YMCA for $50. Otherwise, festivalgoers should arrive by 4 p.m. to avoid having to park far away.

On July 4, Queen’s Landing will be hosting its fireworks show at dusk, but holiday festivities begin 7 p.m. and fireworks begin at dusk. On site will also be a concert by Joey Bishop and the News, at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

The fireworks show at Trump National Golf Club Charlotte, formerly known at The Point, might be the largest in the county. The mortars and shells for the show are so large that the Iredell County Fire Marshal’s office is requiring New York-based BAY Fireworks Pyrotechnic Engineering to notify officials at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport that night so airplanes can be directed on another flight path.

Signal Hill Mall in Statesville will resume its 30-year fireworks tradition on July 3, with pyrotechnics scheduled to begin about 9:30 p.m. Starting at 7 p.m. inside the mall, there will be clowns, face painting and inflatable bounce houses.
