When You Put Your Best Foot Forward, Make SURE It's Your Best Foot

Real Estate Agent with Solutions Real Estate CalBRE License #01490977

I think most of us strive for excellence in what we do...and not just in our real estate business.

We like to make a good impression, after all. It's critical in our business, as it is in any business. And it can tell others a great deal about us very quickly - good AND bad.

The sentiment in this signage is pretty powerful, and worth remembering.

Unfortunately, the irony is that excellence has apparently not quite become a habit at this company.

It reminded me of recent signage at the new Walmart in Encinitas.

The painting contractor painted YEILD not once but twice on the road out front of the new store for all to see and it made the headlines. They corrected it quickly - I went to check.

We all make mistakes from time to time. It's just better to not have it publicized.

We are too reliant on spellchecker. One day I'll post some ridiculous comments I find in local listings.

Jeff, many of us make mistakes - accepting the responsibility is something that most company shy away and blame others!

Jeff - This is the kind of thing where my husband would tell me I'm one of "those" kind of people as this type of thing just seems ridiculous to me.

What is scary is that you would think that at least one employee would notice, and make the correction.  It kind of reminds me when a brokerage enters say, $550 for a listing, when they mean to write in $550,000.  The weird part is, it could be a brokerage with 50-100 agents, so I guess none of their agents check out their new listings.

Hi Jeff,

When I first saw your picture of the sign, I thought it would be ironic if it was misspelled.

But I didn't actually catch it until I had read to the end!!

Nicely done and very funny. As a college kid I actually did spend one summer "slinging" stencils for painting all of those messages on the road around town. Let me tell you, the spelling just plain "looks" different up close!

Jeff, I guess they just wanted to stress the word excellence or just maybe they ran out of 'N's'. Its the thought that counts.

This mistake could come from the person who ordered it up or the minimum wage person who actually put it up. In either case, one's business depends on excellence.... top to bottom! Great post!

Fairly amusing (and ironic).  Definitely have to pay attention to the details, particularly if its a potential critique on others striving for excellence. :)

Typos happen.  Too bad they don't have the ability to use spell check on their sign board, LOL  Good catch!

Rosemary - true, but who wants to be wrong 50% of the time? LOL

Jay - LOL. You have a good sense of humor.

Lenn - OK I admit I had to read the sign twice myself.

Doris - so true

Melissa - well I always find it easier to spot others' errors than my own.

Karen - true, that's why they invented spell check. Of course that won't work on signage.

Debbie - Ha, ha, I have seen that before, and some other pretty glaring stuff.
