Ward's Berry Farm Pick Your Own Blueberries Ready Now in Sharon MA
Canton and Sharon residents know that Wards is the best local place to go berry picking! Nina Rogoff of ReMax Executive Realty reminds us that the blueberries are ripe for picking! Or if you are like me and cannot fit it in your schedule, pop into the store at Wards and buy some already picked. And don't forget Mrs. Ward's baked goods too....maybe a nice blueberry pie!
It's blueberry picking season! You can go to Ward's Berry Farm in Sharon to pick your own blueberries...they're ready now!
Does anyone who grew up in Sharon MA remember the blueberry farm on Morse St. right near the intersection with Massapoag Ave? I remember biking there every summer with my brothers and picking blueberries. The bushes were gigantic and the blueberries were huge! The family that owned the farm would pay us for every pint or quart we picked. I don't remember if it was a nickel, dime or quarter. It didn't matter! We loved picking...and eating...as many blueberries as we could!
That farm is gone now. There's a big, new construction home in the area where I remember the bushes being. Whenever I drive by, I wonder if any of the blueberry bushes remain. The memories sure do!
Do you have a tradition of taking your family to Ward's Berry Farm in Sharon MA to pick you own blueberries? They're ready now, and it's a great time to go. Try to go early in the morning, or in the early evening when it's not so hot out in the fields. Bring a hat and wear bug spray, too!
While you're at Ward's Berry Farm, you can also stop to feed the barnyard animals run by Sunny Rock 4H Club. The barn is open year-round, every day from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. You can pet some animals and for a $1 donation, buy a bag of grain to feed them. You may see baby goats and sheep. Sometimes there are baby rabbits for sale, too!
If you love to make blueberry cobbler or blueberry pie, this is the time to head to Ward's Berry Farm and pick your own blueberries because they're ready now. Pick extra, because if you're like many families some of your berries will be gobbled up before you ever get home!
Have fun!
