Life has little mysteries that we are always trying to figure out. Carie Shapiro gave evidence to this fact and how we have to deal with them on a daily basis. This will make you smile.

Car Mechanic Jerry Seinfeld once said that out of your entire wardrobe, socks suffer the most boring existence.  Worn on our feet and living in the worst of all possible dresser drawers, socks attempt to cheat fate by planning their own escape on the night before laundry day.  And, while I can neither confirm nor deny the validity of this theory, it's certainly an amusing explanation for what is otherwise a frequently common and mystifying occurrence.  Quite honestly, I have found that our lives are filled with many puzzling, baffling, and head-scratching situations.  "Missing Sock Syndrome" is one example –  and a vehicle that magically repairs itself immediately upon arrival at the auto repair shop is another.

Recently, I went to a mechanic seeking the identification of and cure for suspicious noises emanating from my vehicle.  Here's how the scenario typically unfolds:  You pull into the mechanic's driveway.  You and the mechanic head out for a little fact-finding mission together.  However, during the entire ride, it is so incredibly quiet inside your car that you both can literally hear a pin drop.  All of the rattling, clanking, and grinding has suddenly stopped.  Zip.  Zilch.  Nothing.

Have you ever tried to describe to a mechanic exactly what those non-imaginary noises "sounded like?"  Essentially, you know it's futile because the all-too-familiar response goes something like:  "If I can't hear it  –  I can't fix it."  Soon afterwards, you leave the auto repair shop with your head hanging in disbelief.  You know what you've heard happening over the past week.  Yet, unfortunately, your car had other plans and wouldn't cooperate.  That is, until you pull into your own driveway  –  precisely the time when all the noises return.

Come Back, Jerry Seinfeld ... I Need You!
