entrance to Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca SubdivisionShaw-Mi-Del-Eca Village was once an Indian camp site.  In the early Twentieth Century, a summer camp for boys was established here, utilizing the lore of the Indian campsite to market the new camp to families throughout the East and Midwest.

Camp Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca (the name is an abbreviation for four Indian tribes that existed in the region prior to the Nineteenth Century: Shawnee, Miami, Delaware, and Seneca) was operated as a summer camp from 1929 through 1978.  From 1929 through 1971 it was operated as a Summer camp for boys by the Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, West Virginia.  In May of 1972, it was purchased by a local Lewisburg physician, Dr. Eugene McClung and was operated as a Summer camp for boys and girls.  In 1978, a Florida couple purchased the Camp and operated it for one year, before it closed permanently.

Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca is now a beautiful community with a 90-acre flat plot of land along the Greenbrier River in southeastern West Virginia, between U.S. Route 60 and Interstate 64.   The Homeowner's Association Fees are $300 a year. If you have been looking for land to build a log home and have views and access to the river?  You can have it here......select a lot and build your dream log home in the Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca community.

Rebecca- wow... I'd love a riverfront lot!  I'd have a covered dock, a fishing pole, chair and wi-fi hooked up. I'd be all set.

Shaw-Mi-Del-Eca looks like a good location for a retirement home but I wonder if the name of the community should be changed for marketing purposes.
