What's In Your Laundry Room, I had My Kids Laughing

Laundry Rooms

We have totally repainted each and every room in our house, now it is not a large home, a little under 2000 square feet, and we are loving all of the colors.  However the repainting is the subject of another blog to come a little later.  When we painted the laundry room it was yellow with a flowered border around the ceiling (this I did not remove, but may still) and I had a great wall hanging on one wall.  After painting it I decided it no longer fit so what was I to put there........lots of thought went into this.

After all that thought I began a painting that I felt would fit into the laundry room, it took me a while because I changed it in the middle of the painting but this is what I came up with.  It now hangs in the place of honor in my laundry room but it does have a "little humor" in it if you look closely, and if you come from my generation the name of a soap my mother used.  However, it aptly describes how "I do not feel" about doing laundry and I had my kids laughing and shaking their heads.  Who in their right mind paints a painting for the "laundry room".

That's something you don't see everyday! I wonder if it was painted while waiting on a load to finish or perhaps had ran out of Joy and was just wishful thinking!?! :)

Jay, I wonder too.  There was probably at least one to two times when this was true at least on the load to finish.  Mty kids might be right, who puts an original piece of art in their laundry room.....that would be me.

Mary, I think that is a very creative decorating idea!  I agree, there is no "Joy" in doing the laundry.

I don't mind doing laundry, especially now that my plumbing between my kitchen and laundry room has been replaced and repaired.  I went awhile fighting a drain problem, which gave me anxiety.  I finally acknowledged I wasn't going to be able to fix it myself, and called in a plumber.  For a couple of weeks afterward, I would sit on a chair next to the washer and dryer, and just enjoy the tranquility of laundry being done, WITHOUT worrying about an overflow. . .Tsk, tsk!  Sometimes in life, it is the little things:-)

Good Morning Sussie, laundry to me is another "chore", I really don't mind separating and putting clothes in washer or drying, but I can safely say I do not like folding. UGH.  It is nice to have clean and fresh clothes and towels though.

Thank You Kathy, actually I liked the way the painting turned out and it looks good in the laundry.  I am with you about doing the laundry.  I do it and its all done, a couple of hours later, there is more. It is only my husband and I now, but I swear, he must change his clothes several times a day and never wears anything twice.  Although, I do have to say, he does do laundry and does a decent job for sure when he is not in a hurry.

Myrl, it is the little things in life that count the most many times. When I was a lot younger, I did not mind so much, now it is another chore that I would rather not do, but alas who has a choice, well perhaps many, but not for me.

Very cute idea Mary. I have been trying to come up with a plan for my laundry room...it's in need of a bit of pizazz...I may have come up with my own soapy artwork. Oh Joy! Laundry!  :) Well done
