How many of you out there must think hard and fast to remember which side of your car the gas tank is on when you pull up to the pump?  For some this is an automatic response; for others like me it takes a second before it dawns on you.  Well, here's a fun fact.  On many vehicles there is a small triangle next to the icon for the gas pump on your instrument display by the gas gauge.  This triangle points to which side of your car the tank is on!!! I have been driving cars for years and not one person has ever mentioned this to me. How many rental cars have you driven and panicked because you were in line for the pump only to realize you had no idea which side you needed to be on?  Now I have room in my head for something really important to remember.  Like my dry cleaning.

Hi Diane, When I read the title , I just had to take a look see. And well, I didn't know it either. But you can be sure, I will pass this around, especially when I am driving with someone who hesitates, while they try and remember which side of car takes the nozzle. Don't you just love all the neat stuff we learn here?

If I were a designer of autos, I would put one on both sides anyway because that is the just the way I think, LOL.
