You will never believe that problems that I have encountered with the Verizon and the 8830 Blackberry World Phone.    After three weeks of not being able to log on to WPMLS  to do a listing search I finally called Verizon for help.  Don't ask me why I waited so long.   I spoke to a level two Verizon tech support and who  was able to get the home page but not log on even after she downloaded Adobe reader for pda's.   BTW, if your need a free site to down load programs try www.handango.com.  After speaking to our IT Department,  we realized that the Adobe program didn't download correctly.  He advised me to visit a Verizon store and speak to them directly.  After waiting on line for what seemed forever, I told the technician my problem, however, she didn't know what to do.  Growing more exasperated by the minute but not wanting to take out my frustration on her I just smiled when she called her Tech Support.  After waiting her turn and listening to a pre-recorded message for about twenty minutes she finally got through to a real live person.  They didn't know how to download Adobe Reader either.  So, they call Blackberry Rim Technical Support.  If you, an individual call they charge but Verizon is their customer, and lucky me I am a Verizon customer.  Rim support was able to log on to the first page after I gave him the web address but not able to do anything else.  Just then my hero, another Verizon agent walked by and he easily download Adobe for pda's.  However, I am still to run a search, oh well, guess my next stop is visiting our IT Department.  I will not give up until my mission to be able to search the MLS from my Blackberry is accomplished.  Stay tuned.  Or if you have any suggestions please let me know.

I have heard a lot of people are having problems with the Blackberry's lately. I would recommend switching to the Treo phones. I haven't had any problems with it and I can do everything on there, including using it as a lockbox key!

The problem with the Treo for me was that it's not compatible for some reason with our e-mail system at work.  Don't ask me why.  I have heard it is great and would have preferred it.

http://www.handango.com/ Does have some good programs for agents.  It sounds like you just need to make sure they load properly.

Michael,

You are welcome.  I am so frustrated because the part I did not blog about my phone didn't work at all when I left the store.  Had to return to have it reactivated.  I would not use Verizon except that they have the best service here.  The Technicians are really nice but not always that knowledgeable enough to really help if you have a problem out of the ordinary

Renee, call the MLS help number. Don't believe this is a Verizon problem.  Had the same issue and there was a system wide issue with the MLS software conflicting with the Blackberry.

Renee,

my first post. here goes. any update on your phone sitch? I have a pocket pc fr Verizon (xv6800) and I hate it. I've had a couple now, and really want something better. but i like syncing up w/my laptop into outlook, etc. I too use the IR port for opening lockboxes, and really want this feature on my next. I dont really care for the palm phones, and am leaning toward a crackberry. I dont know much abt RIM software, but I think I can figure out what to do for spreadsheets (excel - like for my gas log and expenses) or word processing. I am actually thinking abt the bold, which is an AT&T phone, and unlocking it. my broker and a few friends have that phone and they love it. but verizon isnt helpful at all when asking them if another carrier's phone will work on their network. (I will post something asking for info on that procedure in another post). staying tuned.
