KaBoom Town Addison, Texas 2012 - The Best Fireworks!

KaBoom Town Addison Texas 2012Addison outdid itself last night with its KaBoom Town Independence Day celebration! Prior to last night, KaBoom Town was noted as one of the top three celebrations in the country. In my opinion, it is now Number One!

The event was patriotic from beginning to end. The evening began with a two act Addison Airport Air Show that concluded with a spectacular red, white, and blue pyrotechnics display attached to two aircraft.

I loved that the estimated half million people in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance in unison and sang the Star Spangled Banner, to music provided by the Dallas Wind Symphony.

The 30 minute fireworks display, choreographed to patriotic, music was stupendous, as always. It seems that every year the design of the show becomes more intricate and colorful.

The evening was topped off by everyone's favorite band, Emerald City. The entire audience was dancing to the band's upbeat music.

This celebration was shared with special friends which made it great fun!  Thank you Lorrie Semler!

Happy Fourth of July!

Fireworks were Very Good as usual, airshow was also good!  We are all grateful and appreciative for the Free Show which was very expensive to host. My family had a great evening until we packed up the car and headed home.  We were forced to go in circles by the Addison police department moving only a few feet every 5 minutes.  It took us nearly 1 hour to go less than a mile!  I do not blame the Addison P.D. but I have to say Shame on that planning committee for Horrible Planning on road closures and traffic routing.  It’s not like this was their first fireworks show…

Mike, it is difficult to reroute the enormous number of people who descend upon Addison for the Fourth of July. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. When I left at midnight the traffic was light.

Sharon: You are very welcome, as always.  You are practically an Addison resident!

Mike: Addison is well aware of the traffic situation after every KaboomTown. That's why you are encouraged to stay for the "after party." This year, Emerald City performed for well over an hour. The traffic moved very well after the band finished playing.

Hello everyone.  I am an enforcement attendant for Addison and have worked Kaboom town two years in a row,  I am very suprised at seeing the number of people who complained about  the events poor control of traffic. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT ? The actual numbers of attendees is not really 500,000 but considering all spectators who could see event from MIDWAY to Montfort- I will let estimate slide. when you have over a dozen multilevel parking structures all pouring ONE WAY into the tollway and Arapaho promptly at 10pm there is no way to avoid the mess of traffic. Now if Addison charged for parking you would be less likely to attend. I applaud the people who were smart enough to park on Montfort and Arapaho and walk the 3 blocks. BARS , RESTRAUNTS, CONCERTS, CARNIVAL PARK, JACK's live stage, all managed very well considering the very few problems that occured. - SO the bottom line is Addison did great , the people who patiently bared traffic made it home, and if you can't handle it - stay home and watch on TV. Or simply wait until Midnight. I left event then and hit NO TRAFFIC what so ever. 2nd only to Disney Fireworks - Addison Kaboom town rocked it ! See y'all next year. And be happy its free , if you paid $10 to ride a hamster ball or $20 to park in a private lot - then that is a different story,

Hi James,  Addison is the best at event planning and traffic management! What do you think the final number of attendees was for the event? The 500,000 number was an verbal estimate from a TV reporter. Thanks for letting the number slide!

Well said, James!

The crowd inside the park did seem larger this year, but it's not just the number of people in Addison Circle Park who contribute to the traffic. All the Addison restaurants, bars, and businesses who let people park in their lots, well, it all adds up.

In the Mayor's weekly update, Todd Meier stated that there were over 70,000 people *in* Addison Circle Park and over 500,000 watched the fireworks from various Addison locations.

Lorrie, I'm glad that Todd also came up with the 500,000 number.  They were bantering the number around on our local network TV channels.  I am proud of Addison!
