Celebrations today in Gills Rock and Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin. Baileys Harbor parade is just winding down, but food, fun, music, crafts, water, beach and much more still oblige prior to the beautiful fireworks display this evening.
Egg Harbor celebrated last night with spectacular fireworks, but will feature Village activities and a parade at 1:30 today. Don't miss it!!
Finally, the later afternoon events start in Gills Rock, with music, food, a boat regatta, and fireworks display over the Bay of Green Bay. Not to be missed either! http://www.shorelineresort.com for more information.
So how do we choose? I sent the daughters off to Baileys this morning in the blazing heat, because that is my favorite parade, but last night's Egg Harbor works were fantastic, and they have great shopping all afternoon. Gills Rock maybe later, and my third alternative is Sturgeon Bay and watching the fireworks in Sunset Park with family and friends.
I spent some time in prayer and contemplation thanking God for this Country's indendence, which is so tenuous in rocky times. I thank my veterans I know that have sacrificed and sometimes laid down their lives: Charity Witmer Verre, Rachel Witmer Conrad, Michelle Witmer, Jim Klimczek, Frankie Doles, Joseph Teskie, Matthew Peterson, John Mahoney, Richard Siepkowski, Frank Teskie, Bruce Hanson, and so many others that have served our nation in good times and bad.
Celebrations today in Gills Rock and Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin. Celebrate tonight in Sturgeon Bay. But celebrate with a happy and thankful heart that we still live in a free nation.
