lake union loopHappy Fourth of July, Seattle!

Fourth of July Acrtivities?  My new tradition is walking around Lake Union on the July 4th, something I try to do at least once a week anyway, but doing it on the fourth has more meaning.  You can literally feel the excitement on the lake!  To the right , you can see the screen shot from my phone showing you my 7 mile walk this morning (I use a free App called Endomondo).

Lake Union is Seattle's heart and soul and no wonder why we all jockey for space here on the fourth of July!

It was so funny because at 8:30 AM, I actually saw a case where an absentee somone had "reserved" a Lake Union picnic table.  Seriously.

Clever. Great spot to on the banks of Lake Union.

A great place to enjoy the Seattle fireworks show is form your own Seattle floating home dock...  Here's what's for sale right now:

Lake Union Fourth Of July Scenes along the way:  People were lined up to get into the Family Fourth Of July at Gas Works Park this morning bright and early.  The purple bicycle cabbies were already out trying to offer a ride to us even though by the time we had gotten around the lake we had already covered six miles.

The remote control sailboats were out in South Lake Union Park.  Kayakers and rowers were also already in the water.  Lots of vendors setting up and The Wooden Boat Museum was already out in the covered area working on boat hulls.

The Fourth of July barge which has the fireworks on it in the middle of Lake Union is HUGE and over towards Gas Works Park (picture below as seen from South Lake Union through the giant boats for sale).

Lake Union is such a special place.  I love walking around it and really getting a good close up look at the Seattle neighborhoods that surround this beautiful area.  As a Seattle houseboat Realtor, it is particularily special to me as I get a chance to run into all of my friends on the docks and truly celebrate the curlture and special personalities that make this area unique and sought after.

If you decide to walk around Lake Union Loop:

If you decide to walk around Lake Union, know that it is a bit over 6 miles depending on your route.  The trail is marked, but there are some variations on it.  There are many great places to stop and eat along the way if you like, but make sure and bring a water bottle.  You will walk over 2 bridges minimum and 3 if you decide to walk over the foot bridge in South Lake Union Park.  Seattle Neighborhoods you will stroll along:  Wallingford, University District, Portage Bay, Eastlake, South Lake Union, Westlake, Queen Anne, and Fremont.

Happy Fourth Of July, Seattle!!!!

Hi Courtney,

I have lived here for 31 years, and I did not know about the Lake Union Loop!

Need to get out and walk more.

The fireworks were fantastic last night!

Thanks for sharing
