Independence Day Celebration in Clarksville A Big Success. Thousands of people gathered down by the river on July 3 at 6PM to enjoy music, food, fellowship and a fantastic Fireworks Show. The weather was in total cooperation with temperatures dipping slightly to allow pleasant breezes to blow.
Crowds spread blankets and set up chairs over several acres in McGregor Park and on the river banks of the Cumberland. Many of our soldiers from Ft. Campbell and their families participated in the festivities. Enthusiastic boaters arrived by water and filled the river from bank to bank. A beautiful sunset graced those that arrived early enough to get the prime spots to see its glorious colors.
Children ran and played, blew bubbles in the air, ate shaved ice and danced to the music. Everyone made the Independence Day Celebration in Clarksville A Big Success.
As dark set in, patrol boats cleared the river where the fireworks were to be ignited. Additional fire and rescue crews arrived just to make sure that no vegetation caught fire. Everything had careful planning and fell right into place. Around 9:30 the show began and it was heavenly. It continued for almost twenty minutes as patriotic music played. It was such an enjoyable event and I snapped one photo after another.
All in all it was a perfect night and a great way to usher in the Fourth of July. Happy Birthday America! Special thanks to the City of Clarksville for making the Independence Day Celebration in Clarksville A Big Success.
