Living in the DC area is great around this time, aside from the heat that is.  With everyone still getting through the power outages that have shaken our Maryland, DC, and Viriginia area, we all took some time last night to remember and reflect on our great Independence Day.

I was able to make it down to Georgetown which provided a specatcular view of the fireworks with the Washington Monument as the backdrop.  It was hot and muggy, but I can't imagine being on the National Mall.  That has been a move of ours in the past, but this year we decided to keep it a little more "low-key" and hang out with a friends neighborhood.

We hope that the power comes back today for the thousands still without it in Montgomery County, MD and the surrounding areas.  Having not had it for 4 nights, I know just how miserable the heat is.  Find friends who have power, take your animals to public places to keep them cool.  It's going to be hot in DC today, probably over 100 so get some cover!

Great time.  We also received some unexpected rain that was badly needed here in Arizona.
