Finish work
Trees can often be damaged during the finishing work on a project. The trees protection fence has been removed because final grading is about to occur on the property. Remember that the tree's feeder roots lie very shallow in the soil, so if any fill dirt is added any more than 6 inches deep and then graded out with equipment, then the very same type of compaction and reaction occurs to your trees on your property.
The trees were there long before the construction started. so they do not need any additional soil. You should only add topsoil to any open areas that your considering for grass. Utilize the mulch rings that where put down as part of the landscapeing, and if your great oak tree did not have grass under it to start out with, then consider useing only the mulch ring as the grass under it.
If you follow these guidlines they will help you retain both the beauty and the value of your new property.
