Dance Exchange Summer Institute

When:  July 6 – 16

Where:  Dance Exchange at 7117 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, MD 20912

What:  During this ten-day program, participants will engage with the DC community through a performance during the Capital Fringe Festival.  Scholarship applications now available! 

Goldilocks!

When:  July 6 – July 16

Where:  the Puppet Co. at 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, MD 20812

What:  This tongue-in-cheek retelling of the old tale tells the Bear Family's side of the story as well as Goldilocks'. The audience then gets to decide where the truth lies. A musical introduction leads to an agreement to hear both sides of the incident, serving as a subtle lesson to conflict resolution.

Camp Ramayana

When:  July 6 – July 14

Where:  Sutradhar Institute of Dance and Related Arts at 1525 Forest Glen Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910

What:  Camp Ramayana is a month-long summer camp for children aged 5 to 12. Each session culminates in a stage performance by the students. The Ramayana is a 2000-year old epic, deeply rooted in the culture and identity of South and Southeast Asians. The Sutradhar Institute's approach is unique in that campers are introduced to the Ramayana through story-telling, martial arts, yoga, mask-making, Sanskrit (the language of the epic), poetry, rangoli (floor painting) and creative writing.

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

When:  July 6 – August 13

Where:  Imagination Stage at 4908 Auburn Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814

What:  Told through a dazzling fusion of dance, acting and singing - Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter discover fantastic world of Narnia and become embroiled in an epic battle between good and evil! Recommended for ages 5+.

Snow Show

When:  July 7

Where:  the Puppet Co. at 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD 20812

What:  Enjoy a snow bunny on skis, snowmen (and women), a performing penguin and other friends in a salute to snow! Recommended for ages 0-4.  Show starts at 10am.  Tickets are $5.

Main Street Farmer’s Market

When:  July 7

Where:  Main Street Pavilion in the Kentlands at 301 Main Street, Gaithersburg, MD 20878

What:  Open 10am – 2pm every Saturday through November 17

Teddy Bear’s Picnic

When:  July 9

Where:  the Puppet Co. at 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, MD 20812

What:  Baby Bear has a picnic for his friends - they bring food to share and entertain one another with hilarious results!  Recommended for ages 0-4.  Show starts at 10am.  Tickets are $5.
